WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

I like Spike Jones for his videos and strangely, for his acting. Thought he was pretty good in 3 Kings (despite it being a really cliche role). I wasn't so keen on Being John Malkovich, though.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE was my childhood fever dreams. Any time I had a fever as a kid I was transported into that book. Haven't seen the movie though

I could see dull if one wasn't in the proper mindset for this film but pretentious (a perfunctory analytical guise) and esoteric I don't see so much... though I respect your opinion for I know you have good taste in film, I just like to hear why people dislike films I enjoy. Why hate on Kaufman?

i will allow myself to be contrarian here but genuinely express that i never liked Miyazake, i've only seen Princess Mononoke but i found it pretty bland, and forgettable.

the best 'kids' movie i've seen in the last 8 years was probably The Last Mimzy , movie is seriously underppreciated

yeah, I rewatched Totoro before I rewatched Spirited Away. Totoro is wonderful, especially for younger children, but doesn't hold my interest well on repeated viewings. There are basically just a few "classic scenes" with long pauses between them. I love watching Totoro with people who haven't seen it yet, but by myself I prefer his meatier, more adult offerings. Looking forward to watching Mononoke kick some ass and giant pigs vomiting bloodworms tonight. As far as I'm concerned Miyazake deserved a Nobel for environmentalism (certainly more than Al Gore). His movies could turn even the most hard-hearted industrialist into a tree-hugger...

Agreed

Never in my life have I felt more out of touch than when I watched Being John Malkovich. Total pile of shit. I was bored right out of my fucking mind.

How are you even a film maker...seriously man, you confuse the fuck out of me

We don't have to like the same things or hardly anything similar but shit, the first time I saw BJM was a life changing experience...

It was speaking directly to me on a personal level and no I wasn't stoned...

He actually isn't, and he is a great film-maker, that is the confusing part about it all....

To each their own...

So yeah, I'm really excited to see this with my kid at some point in time.

BJM was just allright (I couldn't get into the story, it had some great scenes and ideas, but as a whole I felt unsatisfied), Adaptation was amazing.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Still haven't seen it either...

working in a theatre that is playing it and I have to walk into where the film is to serve food so I am seeing the same parts over and over(when I am not consciously shutting it out, painful for me to only glimpse a part of a film I really want to see

gonna see it this weekend, less kids in the venues probably :pedobear:

I honestly thought it was pretty bad. Basically the theme of the movie is that one day, your childhood will be over, life isn't fair, people are assholes because of this, and you will be disappointed. That's fine, but it was just so godawfully fucking boring. It's pretty much impossible to care about any of the characters, since they are barely sketched out to begin with. There are also a few attempts at that Wes Anderson style barely-there humor that are really awkward. I had a tough time remembering anything about it about 30 seconds after leaving the theater.

I mean it's only 90 minutes, but it's a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG 90 minutes.

I watched this tonight... was a little let down... at least right now. The characters where my main area of concern... no development, very ho hum but got me to thinking that they are characters we should all already know, so perhaps they didnt need much more development. Emotions where everywhere... sprinkled like little splats of love and hate.... but I guess that's who kids are. I don't like kids and this film reminded me exactly of what kids are, at least emotionally... so I say Jonze did a good job, I think. I don't know about this new hand-held, shaky-cam fetish Jonze has attired himself in as of late but I guess it suits the rambunctious milieu... I'm just confused right now... maybe I should sleep on it. :pedobear:

I think it is beautiful....

from start to finish....

I especially love the look and feel of everything that happens on the Wild Thing's island...

The facial expressions (the things themselves) are creepy and beautiful....

struck some sort of archetypal chord in myself....

probably the Jim Henson note...

The story is not meant to stand out or are any of the characters supposed to develop except for Max...

and all you need to know is:

Max is from the western hemisphere, imaginative and a nine year old boy...

the film is primordial and flowing...

Mirezzi, you will make a film one day we will all see and love as well, although I am pretty sure it will be nothing like Spikey J or Wes or PT's "horrible" films.... :emotawesomepm9:

You need to send the shorts into some Austin film festivals (if you haven't yet), the fests seem to be going all of the time...

Saw a film at the Austin Film Festival last night and it was horrible...(a film produced and acted in by Matthew Modine and here I thought he was dead or retired)

feature length as well, would've walked out on it but the film makers were there.....

Your work would rule these audiences' worlds in this town, hopefully many towns...

GET ON IT!

Thanks, Cody, I appreciate that. I just don't wanna spend money on festivals. It's a bit of a cash sink and unless you're REALLY confident that your work will do very well, it's a waste. We'll see. :braindance: I may scrounge up some dough and submit to a few.
