It obviously doesn't offend me on quite the same level as it does you lot, however, it does bring up a rather critical question: why is it seemingly impossible these days for a female artist to get signed unless she sings in some odd, contrived voice or a quirky accent?

This is starting to really bother me, because these vocal quirks are really distracting to me, and completely distract from any enjoyment of the music.

I know that music goes through fashions and fads like anything else, but this one particularly bothers me, as my own personal tastes usually prefer female singers on a purely aesthetic level but this current fad makes it almost possible for me.

you forgot that she has to be at least moderately cute

also - what labels are throwing out good idm lately? warp is apparently 99% indie and is only signing stupid indie acts, ghostly was ok for a bit but i can't get into club/dance/bass-drum-on-1-2-3-4-music and they want everyone to like matthew dear and he is awful, mu is ok but not so much into hardxcore speed dnb. i still have a lot of electronic to catch up on from the 90s but i'm looking for new, innovative idm. is there no label dedicated to this?

Touch, Raster Noton and 12k have been my go to labels over the last year or so for new experimental electronic shenanigans.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.
