to me, this is the only acceptable lack of quarter (well, or on the album) lovely synths. lovely jazz metal chords.

lol, i remember knowing this girl whose mom was well into jesus. she had a houses of the holy poster on her bedroom wall, and one day she came home and there were shorts drawn on all the pre-pubescent girls.

kinda like this:

when an 18-year old kaini got back to her house, he thought 'hmm, i am definitely not getting any here'.

but on the contrary her parents were away, and all she wanted to do was fuck.

so i fucked her. but the damn censored houses of the holy poster kept drawing my gaze.

it felt like jesus was disapproving by proxy.

anyone that says led zeppelin sucks is either flat out retarded or is trying to fit in somewhere.

even their worst efforts had amazing tracks on it...still loved Southbound Saurez, Fool in the Rain, and Hot Dog (to a degree)

Houses of the Holy stands up better than most. And IV, of course. 'When the Levee Breaks'... fuckin hell

the single best Zep song for my money tho is 'Achilles Last Stand'

Yup, Achilles Last Stand, When the Levee Breaks and No Quarter are my 3 fave. ALS is a monster.

There are some great songs on Physical Graffiti which aren't talked about as much as others, even though it suffers the usual double album flaws.

I love Led Zeppelin instrumentally but appreciating Robert Plant's vocals isn't always something I can accomplish successfully.

Wasn't there a thread a few years back that had some John Bonham breakbeat's??? I wish I still had em :|

Yeah, the vocals definitely hurt it for me too. And I remember that thread/have those breakbeats! I was pretty excited about them at the time, but I don't think I've used them once. I've tried incorporating them into stuff, but it never works. There's a lot of background music leak on them that's hard to cover up.

zep 3 is a classic, I listen to it often. Also recently learned how to play/sing "thank you", after hearing Chris Cornell's acoustic version on Stern. Lovely.

I still can't believe that the drumming on 'In My Time Of Dying' was humanly possible.

extremely overrated, they're pretty average...

Mmmm. If you played Beethoven to me I might have the same opinion. But he would be Beethoven so I would be wrong. So instead of using words like overrated and average I'd just shrug my shoulders and say 'it's not my cup of tea brother' and move on.

Led Zep are a special band. it took me a long time to get it though, I prefered the crushing simplicity of Sabbath, or the wizardry of Hendrix. Led Zeppelin? I couldn't see it for a long time. Then some time down the passage of time I had that massive enlightening moment which had never happened to me before, you know when the music you don't really understand, all of a sudden becomes a glowing lightbulb in your brain? Few bands have had this effect on me and usually come in the electronic genre (Autechre and BoC amoung others) but this would be years later.

When I spent a few years travelling Australia we would sit around a smoke a bit of weed and drink a few beers and ALL love Zeppelin. I think it was a great phase. And a phase I never forgot, even now I think that perhaps Zeppelin are the greatest band ever due to that magic time. They were just brilliant, we'd listen to them every night. chilled out in our zones, going 'yeah dude Zeppelin? Holy fuck the're mind blowing!!!'

Of course me telling this to somebody who inherintly dislikes them are going to think, 'yeah yeah same old Zeppelin bullshit!, here we go again etc'. Exactly like I am with The Beatles.

In the right time and right place? Zeppelin are kings. But you need to discover that for yourself. No point in forcing it upon you.

I do, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven and When the Levee Breaks are awesome, the rest suck. To me album no 4 signifies the downfall of Led Zeppelin.
