I like it better than "rock and roll" anyways, and black dog. Oh fuck. Sorry, I thought you were talking about "out on the tiles". Still, Four sticks seems like a weird track to hate, it is pretty good I think. It sounds like radiohead. ghOsty
I love me some Led Zep, proud to own original pressings of both II and Houses of the Holy on vynil... I've been hanging with my girlfriend's family this weekend and I was wearing my Led Zep hoodie, gf's little sister asked me "what's your hoodie all about?" to which I replied "You've never heard of Led Zeppelin?" to which she said no. This made me kinda sad on the inside I get that she's a 12 year old girl, but still... I knew all the classics like Zep, The stones, and the beatles when I was like 5. I know I'm making myself sound old but damn, kids these days really do listen to shit... which was confirmed later that day when she declared NIkki MInaj as being awesome... SR4
I do remember learning about how much shit they completely and unfairly ripped off from blues musicians early on in their career; luckily the rest of their catalogue offsets that. I mean shit, Elvis had some cool songs and the mfer ripped off everyone that wasn't white at that time. I think these days Im more of a Sabbath fan, but I will always remember Houses of the Holy as one of my favorite albums growing up. olo
I'm fine with Zep. They got some bangerz. But, what ruined them for me was the ripping off of riffs from lesser known bands & hijacking them for their own use. Plarkreluke Banloboh
My favorite Led Zeppelin track of all time is 'In My Time Of Dying'. so epic so riffs I recently downloaded and having been listening to the 'Rocky Mountain Hop' soundboard bootleg recording from 1975 which has an excellent version of this. MisterE
led zeppelin are great even if they ripped off a lot of their shit. for example stairway to heaven being basically a stolen song. i love the creepy way 'in the light' opens. lots and lots of great tracks. maybe more than any rockband, imo. J3FF3R00
Zeppelin has to be the 2nd best band ever, shortly behind the Beatles. I was having this talk with my wife about it the order day. I asked her (and I almost made a thread about this) "if you were to equate rock bands to the best classical composers, who would be who?" I said that I had originally thought The Beatles would be Bach, but after some hard thinking, I think Zeppelin would be Bach (The Beatles would probably be Mozart and Sabbath would be Beethoven). My thought about this is that, even though Bach is arguably the greatest composer of all time, the Beatles wouldn't be Bach because Zeppelin were all better instrumentalists. I think Bach's compositions tend to lend themselves more to virtuosic performers. The Beatles were incredible composers but you couldn't say any of them were the best at their instrument. They were good, but not "Zeppelin" good. They were better at expressing emotions/stories through the music. I think that would likely equate better to Mozart. I guess I thought Sabbath would be Beethoven because of their fire. I guess either them or Hendrix.... or Danzig :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide J3FF3R00's signature Hide all signatures 666 Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/51820-led-zeppelin/page/3/#findComment-2074434 Share on other sites
