I don't really mind lack of percussion :p.

There isn't a load of percussion in these, but some is better than none:

Igor Stravinksy - Le Sacre Du Printemps (The Rite Of Spring)

Steve Reich - Drumming

Steve Reich - Music For 18 Musicians

Philip Glass - Symphony No. 7: Toltec

Koichi Sugiyama - Dragon Quest VIII OST

Bersarin Quartett - Bersarin Quartett

Julien Neto - Le Fumeur De Ciel

Rite of Spring is wonderful, listen to it

THATS HOW U NO U GOD WHEN YOU GOTA MODEL AND SHE THROW UP ON YO DICK BECAUSE ITS SO BIG AND YOUR IN A LIMO GOING TO A LIL B CONCERT - Lil B

Definitely check out Steve Reich's work.

Fuck, the bass solo in that Loussier/Bach track was fucking amazing. There should be some more good beat-based Bach improv covers.

I'm thinking the Little Fugue in Gm...in fact, fuck it I'm going to do it.

90% of Loussiers stuff is bach

and there are also drum solos on this:

Hmmm, the stuff I am hearing isn't what is like on Alarm Will Sound Performs Aphex Twin :( I don't think a lot of stuff like that exists

the jacques loussier vid was cool though, do you know any more jazzy type of stuff with lots of bass and lots of drums? is there a name for that style of music?

Edit ran out... maybe some classical-ish post-rock bands will be your thing?

Do Make Say Think - Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven!

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada

Sigur Rós - Takk...

Yeah I know (I actually have some Loussier Bach sheet music someone gave me a while back), I just hadn't heard that track. Great stuff. Just listened to one of his Chopin efforts - it doesn't work nearly as well, probably because Chopin uses so much rubato and chromaticism anyway that attempts to meddle with it in that way just disturbs the brilliantly constructed balance.
