Running order was: Jeremiah Jay, Daddy Kev, Take, Teebs, Daedelus, The Gaslamp Killer, Kode 9, Flying Lotus w/ Thundercat, Ras G, Dr. Strangeloop, Samiyam, Nosajthing, Matthew David, Dak, Tokimonsta and a Jeremiah Jay encore.

they also mentioned mary anne hobbs was in the building, yet from what i heard she didn't do anything loafstep/baguettecore with frying loafus.

flylo's mix was decent. the cosmokramer tracks he played: unreleased remix of pickled, the 2nd half of and the world laughs with you, and closed his set with galaxy in janaki. within the set, he played a couple tracks from loaf angeles, but not at full length.

there is a really large (full page) review of it in the new Wire magazine, they rate it very highly the only criticism they offer is that it's overly ambitious . Nothing wrong with that in my book

This is warps last chance with me for preorders. If I have to wait until a few days after this is released to hear this I am done with them. No amount of foil stamping or print techniques will get me to pay double prices again

This.

At least we'll be able to get MP3s on release day (if not sooner...who knows) so I don't mind too much waiting a few days for the physical product (even though that's lame). But yeah the prices...

yeah just walk into a record store, the Warp20 boxset and oversteps appeared in my local Amoeba records before a large portion of UK people received theirs from bleep pre orders, and amoeba records is in california!

Plus Oversteps was probably about $10-11 like I've seen in most shops here. Maddening, I tell you.

That 18 minute ep is strangeloops only release right? I like some tracks on his myspace but I'm assuming they are unreleased?

And yea, good point about the downloads the day of sidewinder, I almost forgot about that.

NuOpSys is an alias of Dr. Strangeloop

Just a shot in the dark, but does anyone know what that remix-y sounding version of the prefuse/dimlite collab "no lights still rock" that they played early in the set was? It was fucking lush and I'd love to acquire it.

Yeah I heard it too, it was amazing. Not sure what it is, though

haha ras G was so noisy and great. i thought loafsaj thing did great too. his remixes of his own songs from Drift were top-notch.

i was in that chat. anyone else was in that chat while it was playing/the next day too?

does anyone feel like there is just way too much going on in some of the tracks??

This. Half of the time I thought the tracks were finished but there were just random U-turns in the middle of several songs.

Didn't really think this was great first few times through but now that I have a good quality version I'm liking it a whole lot better, it's growing on me. Don't think I like it as much as LA but I admire the new direction.

You gotta admit the "wonky arpeggios" stuff is kind of bullshit though. :cisfor:

hey lube, sorry for missing your post. but i really don't mean to be a dick or anything but wonky arpeggios are already a cliche. Were you a fan of the commodore64 or SID chip music? This is where this sound comes from, doing ultra fast 32nd, 64th note arpeggios is as far as i can tell a staple in most Wonky music. Not all songs mind you but it's just as used as piano stabs from early hardcore.

Sometimes i like them, but some of the time i want them to not do something NOT so expected. Its just a matter of personal taste but to utterly deny that this is already a cliche i think indicates you haven't listened to very much music in the genre or you aren't aware of what im taking about. you seem like a guy in the know so i'm curious how you can utterly deny the existence of this

Had the dispatch email for the Japanese CD. Glad I avoid leaks on the whole as I'm pretty up for this album.

Ok, I've gone from not really liking this album to totally loving it, lol. Somehow it didn't seem that fresh at first but after a few listens it's really incredibly different from the first album and very inventive. Really flows well, definitely meant to be listened to as a whole. Tons of real instrumentation, and god damn does "Do The Astral Plane" kick. Very much an album for nice weather, now that it's finally spring I'm feeling this album a lot more.
