I highly support pule, still to this day have not figured it out totally, even the Cichli melody I can play almost totally in-time on the keyboard, but I can't even come close to getting pule, I'm up to the first 30 seconds maybe....

Love that track though, tons of space and a nice warm atmosphere.

I suppose you're also trying to get your head around the silence between Drane2 and the little sounds at the end of LP5? You fucking dweeb I HATE YOU.

wow: 'Yulquen' & 'Pule' are alot alike, and both very boring lol

what !

yulquen is amazing! one of my favourite autechre tracks, in fact.

And I'm inclined to say the same about Pule! One of my favourite Ae tracks, I think it's a really underrated piece of work. It's a very long, non-repetitive melody which brings me into a world of atmosphere and depth which I attempted to describe during Chiastic Slide week. It's seriously beautiful once you get into it.

relistened 'Pule'. still not liking it though, it just plods around as if it doesn't know what to do, for me sounding very pointless. It does get a bit warmer towards the end but I still reckon it's the weakest track on 'Chiastic Slide' by miles.

foods in the tone of 'go to the fuckin store'

patayda chips

apple cracker thangies

carrots in brown paper bag

Have really taken a liking to "Pule" recently....really nice mellow track.

Second Scepe + Laughing Quarter fit together for me in a weird way.

As for "Dial", recently i'd been thinking that that track almost is like their take on the rob hood style of minimal techno...

wow cool, very similar synth sounds. actually i'd love to hear autechre do some proper minimal techno.

Anyone else notice how the plodding mechanical beat of Laughing Quarter bears a striking similarity to that of Key Nell 3?

I also <3 pule btw

Yup, these two definitely have similar structure and timbre, they also happen to be two of my all time favorites.

hmmm...no. i don´t see a similarity here. sure they both sound mechanical, but the tonality, the structure and the used sounds are totally different imo.

:wtf:

same exact rhythm + chiastic-era mechanical-sounding percussion = similar

There is also a somewhat "overlooked" track on PS2, Gaekwad, which seems to be made of the same set of samples/patches as Maphive 6.1, which is again a wonderful piece with fantastic melody and instrumentation quite unusual for Ae (vibraphone, acoustic bass, and tr808?), just check them to remember how really awesome both tracks are.

Parhelic Triangle and Tapr have a pretty similar underlying rhythmic pattern; although tapr has a bit more detail added on top to obscure it (starts about 15 seconds into tapr).

yeah, now that you mention it, gaekwad totally reminds me of maphive on ep.7. a favorite of some friends of mine who used to play it constantly.

ps2.. i almost forgot about that ep. i remember the first time i heard it when it came out, my friend almost fell over when the bass line in track 1 kicked in.. while cranking the subs nice and loud to hear those realllly low notes in that bass line
