Yeah lol - no way I was gonna go through 17 pages worth of posts!! Anyways I've seen a number of their vidoes prior to reading this thread and I'm just not feeling them. I just think the overall vibe I'm picking up from their music is one of frustration, anger, resentment and negativity and to be honest the videos freak me out a little. I do see that there is a sincerity in their music very much so but the vibe just doesn't appeal to me really.

In the rest of the thread, it is uncovered that Die Antwoord is more of a performance-art act than a actual group of thug rappers.

They are putting on an act (or having a "piss-take", if you like) and have been experimenting with many different incarnations of the group over the last several years.

Ninja is actually a bit of an intellectual artist/musician named Watkin Tudor Jones. He sews together crazy stuffed animals and draws crazy stuff all of the time. Ninja, like Die Antwoord, is an experiment. He has also played with many different persona's over the last few years, many being intellectuals. His main influences range from "Ren & Stimpy" to Aphex Twin.

That "angry" vibe you are picking up on is basically a farce. They are just goofing around. They are basically the quintessential post-modern hip-hop group.
