It's a great album. If they wanted to capture alienation and paranoia they succeeded for me. Also an unpredictable move after the last two albums (which I also love). I take it Thee Lounge is in the same vein?

yeah, similar style tracks. i've already played the album a few times since receiving it

i took the whole thing in w/ my tea this morning. Thee Lounge is a nice companion piece.

it really was better than Music For Airports, and i like that it's a departure (there's the pun) from the road they've been on for a bit. never did get Further Vexations but i'll go completist on it soon.

There's a preview of every track here - http://www.duststoredigital.com and it's only like 6 quid. If you still can't decide, then I really worry how you get on in life

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

6 quid that as a student I could have spent on beer :emotawesomepm9:

Nah, I just mean I could buy it start listening to it, get bored and never come back to it. It would just be another album in my collection gathering dust never being played.

i think this album is fucking brilliant. as someone who was recently stranded in an airport, because of that volcano explosion, i can definitely relate to the feeling of this music.

That was the Black Dog's doing, publicity these days huh?

Yep, exactly. Fucking awesome album, my favourite of their entire career.

I much prefer the 2nd half of the album, everything from Northern Electronic Soul, Pt. 1 on is pretty special.

Heard this album last night and was quite pleasantly surprised. Going to have to go back and listen through more of their post-warp records work. I really didn't get into much of the early black dog, this stuff is pretty sweet though. Surprisingly electroacousticky-sound walk stuff, initially I thought it would be too cheesy but it works.. such nice textures.

I go by rail to most places nowadays. Are there any train-station themed albums? Then again, don't bother. 'Music For Crewe Station' would end up being a proper descent into hell.

Actually Richie Hawtin's DE9: Closer To The Edit really reminds me of travelling by train.

(and of course there's Kraftwerk's - Trans Europe Express, a concept album based purely on a train line)

Oh yeah, that does ring a bell...

Most of you probably saw this already but FACT Mag just posted an interview with Martin regarding the album and stuff. It was interesting to read about their collaborative writing methods, what they were listening to while writing, etc. Pretty good interview.

glad Black Dog is doggin on Brian Eno. Way too many people in the electronic music scene take that guy and his (repeated, stolen) ideas far too seriously. His deck of cards is perhaps the most interesting thing about the man.

Fuck Brian Eno

and for my 2 cents, the album title is fantastic. The hilarious idealism and stolen concept of Eno's first album seems very crass and 70's new agey dated now.

first off, lol at "fantastic" music for real airports! man, this aint your grandpa's airport, this is the real shit. FUCK YOU OLD MAN! the title sounds resentful and puerile. or, if it's a pisstake, mediocre.

you can't possibly be so naive to believe that eno, whether 100% original or not, has had way more of an impact on contemporary electronic music than any of the people he's supposedly "stole"* from -- his aesthetic works, dude. there may be others who "thought of it first" but eno made it stick, b/c he's fucking intelligent, charismatic, an excellent artist, etc.

also, black dog...meh
