Presumably a bad pressing.

Worse than the Quoth clear vinyl.

Yes, it's not a good pressing at all, you're not missing out on anything unless you have the black vinyl. If I was on facebook I'd support this. The only thing I'd say is the way Warp is going if there was a 180g reissue they'd probably sell it for what, £40, £50?

I'd say that coloured vinyls and picture discs are not there to be played, unless, of course, the release is not available on black wax, CD, or other format. I can't see Warp releasing SAWII on audiophile vinyl, unless either they or RDJ are hard-up.

Many of them are completely fine, and on the other hand there's plenty of cruddy black vinyl too.

Yeah my brown vinyl copy doesnt sound great but it is worth having just so I can have Stone In Focus in pretty much any set I do ever. :emotawesomepm9:

i just got a copy of the brown vinyl and it's interesting how much surface noise it has, like how does this happen when pressing a record? i've heard 'bad' pressings before where the sound quality was just shit but this sounds like a very old heavily played record that looks visually flawless. sound quality is still pretty good though

silver incunabula doesn't sound too great either :-/ i've had two copies, and they've both had a lot of surface noise

strange, is there another version of Incunabula?

and in response to some of the people here, the noise factor has absolutely nothing to do with the vinyl being colored. Mylar (picture discs) which are not vinyl records, but play like them have lower sound quality than actual vinyl records, not because it's colored but because it's literally being cut to a lesser grade material for audio fidelity.

I have put out around 3 colored vinyls variants on my label and they sound 100% identical to their black counterparts

yep, there's a standard black vinyl version. the silver version was limited to 1000 pressings, and has slightly different artwork

My copy of Analord 10 (the picture disc) has unbelievably bad sound quality. I've wondered whether they were all like that, or whether Rephlex pressed too many off the same stamper and I have a copy from the end of the pressing run.

As for colour vinyl, that's right, there should be no difference in quality whatever colour is used. after all, (afaik) the natural colour of the plastic is clear - black is a colour added just like any of the others. Warp's colour vinyl pressings are an exception of course - notorious, no idea why they were so bad.
