Guest
it seems like some games have a considerably higher chance of going into another game. ive been having a lot of luck with echo jr. I'd totally be down to contribute anything I get for a compilation, if what I get is good enough. this one doesnt have any harsh noise although one of the synths is really really big. echo jr lvl 3 into aliensoldier_002.mp3Fetching info... kaini
this is really fucking interesting because things didn't have paged memory back then, because the operating system wasn't multitasking or didn't have a strictly defined API - because it didn't have to! - what you are hearing here is, i think, the audio engine of the game thrashing through a mixed bag of code and samples. every time you hear a repetitive thing, that's a loop. everytime you hear static, that's a decision or a quick probe through an array or something like that. and when it hits sample memory or graphics memory you hear other things. now that being said i have no way of explaining some of the noises in this... it's phantasy star 4 with a zero wing (of ALL YOUR BASE fame) savestate loaded Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/music/AHP_-_pstar4zerowing.mp3 Edited March 7, 2010 by kaini Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide kaini's signature Hide all signatures On 5/7/2013 at 11:06 PM, ambermonk said: I know IDM can be extreme On 6/3/2017 at 11:50 PM, ladalaika said: this sounds like an airplane landing on a minefield Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/54059-save-state-bending/page/2/#findComment-1262937 Share on other sites

Guest
yeah kaini I've noticed something like that, I opened dynamite heady and loaded a save state of the street fighter two capcom logo, which just freezes on a note. now normally, when I open an echo jr save in dynamite headdy, it just sort of clicks and then goes right back to dynamite heady. but if I do the street fighter thing first, it goes crazy on the tunes, AND it produces some amazing glitches out visuals. gonna try and get a video recorded here. Guest
what's really great is the games with sound tests in the options. i was able to save a state on each song in we're back, a dinosaur's tale and get different results for each, without having to actually play the game and get to the levels. various were back lvls into dynamite.mp3Fetching info... Guest Bramsworth
I used to do this a lot when I discovered it a few years back. I never even thought to share it with people, now I wish I had :P I remember discovering something like this many years ago with Earthworm Jim. This was on the real console before I even knew what emulators were, or even had a PC. If you activate an invincibility code and then find an enemy and just try to keep yourself jumping within the enemy's sprite, the audio for Jim when he gets hurt will keep playing over and over, it's insane. Eventually the audio just screws up and starts producing pretty much the same effect you get with this savestate trick. I remember I got some pretty funky tunes, including something that literally sounded like a whole tune from Toejam and Earl, if anyone remembers that game. I'm gonna experiment with this a bit myself now. :) If you also want to try another experiment, disable the Z80 channel. Everything slows down to a crawl :P Edited March 7, 2010 by Bramsworth Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/54059-save-state-bending/page/2/#findComment-1262994 Share on other sites

Guest
hmmm so this is strange, when you load sonic 2 into revenge of shinobi, it actually recreates the music. I've had a few that just would play the music normal, but the music here is actually being remixed slightly. strange.
