Project Natal is not going to work like the trailers, if it was really that good, then they've basically outdone every motion capture system ever made and decided to sell it for a couple of hundred dollars to consumers. I mean seriously, when that kid scans his skateboard, his hands and the wheels are in the way of the board, and yet it knew what pattern should be there! It's fake. It'll be just like eyetoy except you don't see yourself on the screen.

Speaking of Eyetoy, whatever happened to that? I thought it was awesome, that came before the wii, and I think it's easier to use, and really opened up the casual gaming market. I saw the new version in a store one day, and it looked fantastic, except the game was a lame virtual pet... I was hoping we'd see other better games for it but I just don't hear about it ever! Oh well...

On a side note though, yeah... I think Nintendo kinda screwed themselves by not offering HD, but at the same time who has sold the most consoles this gen? I think next gen is where it's really going to be at as all of these ideas have had time to mature and of course the new tech when those come out should be pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, just like any Wii owner has to have a Wiimote and Nunchuck for each player on boxing, and any multiplayer game on any system, each player has to have their own controller. What a scam.

yes, but the sony version of the nunchuck doesnt have motion-control. That way sony makes sure you really buy four move controller and the additional "nunchucks"

boxing on wii: 2 wiimotes, 2 nunchucks

boxing on ps3: 4 Move-controller, 4 Nunchucks, because who would want to own a move-controller without the nunchuck

Wrong - The sub-controller DOES have motion controls and sensors in it. True, you DO need two Move controllers for the boxing game they demoed, but that's not to say a fighting or boxing game couldn't work with just one Move and a sub-controller (per player).

It's still early to tell on pricing (I can't see the Move controller by itself being as much or a bit more than the Wiimote (40usd), and if they are sold together (Move + Subcontroller), for say 60USD, they'd get good buy-in. The bundle with the PS Eye camera will retail for 99 (with a game), and that's what people pay for Guitar Hero with a controller, so I think the initial buy-in (assuming there's support for major titles) will be good.

Also, I don't worry about what happened with the Wii with shovelware, as it's too expensive to develop HD games these days by just porting a Wii title over with an HD makeover.

I really hope that Sony gets the hold of this and don't end up making family games only like Nintendo. This has potential but I'm still not crazy about the whole motion controller "evolution".

"While the decision is not yet final, at this stage, the Subcontroller does not have its own motion sensor." -says kotaku, but i swear i read it did somewhere else. Something about it having its own gyroscopic components?

fucking sony. i don't think they even have a research and development team. well, actually i'm sure they do, but the purpose of the team is simply to research and develop (ie. steal) technology that nintendo already incorporated into their console, took a risk with, and proved successful.

the original ps1 controller didn't even have analogue sticks or force feedback until after the n64 controller had both these things.

lame

That's how it is man. Nintendo innovates, the others follow and make it pretty cause that's all they got.

True, but Sony just didn't take the idea of an analogue stick (which other devices had before Nintendo decided to incorporate one on a controller) and put it on a controller, they put two dual analogue sticks, which allows dual independent analogue movement, thus IMPROVING on Nintendo's initial idea/concept. I see the Move in the same vein, taking a good idea and taking it to the next logical level (with better precision, and the incorporation of a camera element to detect 3D space position and put the player in the game, along with supplanting the controller with virtual objects on-screen).

So, think things through a bit before you brand something 'lame' - short-sightedness is lame.

all these waving your arms around games are shite. what is the crappy wii one where you throw things at blocks? i mean come on! its lazy right now, no innovation, just "well we have this stupid device so lets just make a throwing or hitting game and not worry about story/graphics/point/fun".

maybe i'm wrong, maybe there are some great games for these things. it makes sense that this could be the next evolutional step in gaming but it doesn't seem like they've used it to its full potential yet. and don't get me started on dj hero

Yeah, I'm actually having a hard time seeing that both Microsoft and Sony are doing their motion controllers because they think they can actually bring something new to the table and knock Nintendo off the chair. They're just doing it to get a piece of the money making machine also known as motion controllers. And after Sony's presentation I don't see anything that will change my mind about this. To be fair most of the games were probably alpha versions but it was still just a bunch of Wii games. I guess Michael Pachter was right... they finally announced the Wii HD.

Sure, but show me a game that actually benefits from the motion controller... well, to answer my own question Resident Evil 4 was a lot better on the Wii but looking back on the GameCube controller and anything would seem like an improvement.
