Damn I thought Albarn said he wasn't going to even try to outdo Demon Dayz.

I haven't really been into the Gorillaz for along time, but I'm looking forward to this. Tracks with Mos Def!

And a track with Lou Reed? Interesting.

yeah Mos Def is actually going to be one of the characters along with Murdoc, 2D and noodles. He plays a "beach vendor".

all of the guest MCs are ruining this band, first album is still the best.

I am quite the opposite. I thought the debut album was decent but Demon Dayz impressed the hell out of me and that album featured a lot of guest MCs too so I am not too worried. plus you cannot go wrong with De La Soul + Mos Def + Low Reed + Paul Simoanan...

Agreed

Demon Days wasn't too over the top; for example Roots Manuva was tolerable on that album however Snoop Dogg + Kano on this new album? I don't understand.

I just hope to hear a bit of Albarn on a few tracks

read some where that despite the crazy amount of guests damons vocals are still more prominant on this album than the others.

i honestly can't tell which i like more out of Gorillaz and Demon Days. i am looking forward to the new one though. damon related material always gets the blur fan inside me excited :)

Yes same here, he's certainly one of my favourite musicians when it comes to vocals. I'm definitely glad though that he decided to branch out into this experimental direction of music after Blur.

Guest Wall Bird

Demon Days always sounds as if it's not complete. It's too empty and repetitive, in a poor way, for me to like more than a few tracks. I greatly preferred the 'G-Sides' release with all of the album's outtakes compared to some of the stuff that made it to the album. It makes me wonder what Damon is trying to do. That being said, I'm much more a fan of the first album. Those songs were killer.

Also, no longer collaborating with Del for each subsequent album seems like a misstep to me as I feel like his demeanor and writing style is perfectly suited to the band's esthetic.

Oh well, I guess we'll see how it is when this one comes out...

I can get with what Wall Bird was saying. Gorillaz seemed like a much more complete thought than Demon Days. I really enjoyed DD but the middle did not have me convinced at all. The beginning was fantastic and so was the ending trilogy of tracks. I think after El Manana I didn't really understand it all that well. Taken by themselves, I loved it, I just prefer the Automator production more on the first album.

That said, Plastic Beach has me very very excited!

seriously. I really loathe the smattering of guest artists all over an album, no matter the artist. If i listen to a gorillaz album its because i want to hear gorillaz make music, not gorillaz and 17 other goddamn artists. That just sounds like a lack of ideas on their part. Demon days grew old really fast for me, but i can listen to their first album ANY day. Nevertheless, i will be anticipating this release.

Yeah Demon Dayz never really sunk in for me. I really liked a few tracks, but it never got the play that the first album did.
