WHAT!? I mean, I could understand someone mentioning ilanders or st epreo (though I disagree), but Os Veix3!? There isn't even a vague dubstep vibe, never mind bass!

well some reviewers need to feign an intelligent discussion... i guess it makes one look hip to say something sounds like dubstep. hence they come off a bit pretentious

That's as bad as the Pitchfork one. Look at this:

I know this stuff is subjective, blah blah blah - but come on. Qplay is pure feel and emotion, especially that ending melody. That track's not impersonal or mechanised or depersonalising at all! The deranged percussion only makes the emotions hit harder and renders the melodies even more fragile and affecting.

All the people I've talked to who can stand listening to Autechre and don't immediately go " " said that Autechre are like dubstep but not. I can KIND of see what they mean, but they're wrong by a million miles.

i guess for people who don't listen to a wide spectrum of music, dubstep is probably their only frame of reference

"dubstep" in reviews is the new "drill&bass."

yeh it combines things like "dark", "mean", "not for ladies", "fucked up rhythms" into a code.

That's because dubstep is KIND of like IDM, and people are KIND of stupid.

And that limited frame of reference thing.
