All the technical fuckup took 23 minutes to resolve. But it led to a glorious mindfuck for the next hour+ by some pretty pissed ae. Luved it!

Except for the humorous runtime error that was an absolutely relentless pummelling. Superb.

Mbe it goes without saying, for many live performance types, but for me the risk of malfunction only enhances the effect they conjure with their sets.

In the moments before I saw them at MELBOURNE_250823, as they prepped on stage, I realised my excitement mostly came from the feeling of high suspense and anticipation, conscious of the skilful and precarious feat they were undertaking - like watching a tightrope walker cross a chasm

Everyone on Reddit seems to be complaining about the crowd and the sound, but didn't have too much issue where I was (middle crowd in front of the desk). Got pretty cramped though.

Definitely some amazing bits in there, shame the malfunction kind of deflated the atmosphere and coming straight back into a slamming section without any build up was pretty jarring.

Middle section pulled it back, but the 7/4 bit nearer the end got kind of exhausting not gonna lie. No one can dance to that weird-ass time signature, even head nodding you have to keep counting it off. Could feel them losing the crowd again.

Overall pretty good but wasn't blown away. I reckon they should try and vary this D set a bit over the tour, maybe dial some of it back so it's not so relentless?

I still get goosebumps thinking about that night. I actually met the boys outside the royal exhibition building 10mins before they went on

Near the front that middle-end section was electric in the crowd, people were going nuts. I would have gladly danced for half an hour more of that section—how I ache the morning after for it! Surprised by the sound comments, too, given New Century’s fancy sound system. Sounded crisp as ever to me near the front, but perhaps far back it’s a bit echoey and dampened perhaps?

anyone nab the SDEM set? what about Rob Hall's, did he still go on after AE given the ~20 minute hole in their set?

I really regret not taping SDEM. I wanted to play it safe in case I got caught and mics confiscated before Autechre, the set was fantastic.

I got all of Rob’s set taped, though! Yep, It was a seamless six hours of music, he was immediately after the boys. Really fun set

oh wow, 6 hours? i must've read the set times wrong, i thought he was scheduled for an hour after AE not 6 

looking forward to hearing that if you do get it up and shared eventually! i've got a number of his older sets, always into them, but i don't think i've heard a full set of that length from him before.

Apart from just before the crash, I didn't think there was anything up with the sound, maybe slightly cleaner and crisper than usual if anything. Completely punishing set, not much downtime - one section felt like there were kick drums being played on 16th beats for about 5 minutes and I could feel my soul leaving my body.

Quite a lot of idiots in the crowd near me roughly in the centre, people vaping, chatting loudly, pushing, chains of people traversing the darkness with phone torches. And the jeering/heckling during the crash. Probably the day/venue but I got the impression there was lots of normies, not the usual bunch of raggedy autists you see at ae. On the other hand nice to see lots of girls dancing and having a good time to the beats. Glad they got a good long round of applause at the end.
