The Incredible Beardyman Performance

I'd love to hear him do a cover of Boards of Canada's "Telephasic Workshop"

I caught him at a little festival in July and it was not what I'd hoped for, hardly any banter or interaction and a lot of hard dance music coming out instead of any inventive stuff or any good old fashioned showing off. I've seen him do great shows before and I was hoping after seeing this video that he'd got even better.

I saw him in Toronto. He was doing a dance set instead of an everybody-look-at-how-talented-I-am set. I was disappointed. But he started with twenty minutes of solo beat boxing, and he did some mind-blowing things there. He did drums bass and vocals at the same time.

Also, he had no beard. wtf?

are there any vids or clips in segments? i don't have the patience to sit through this whole vid. especially with the way he first steps out.

I kinda agree

if he just stopped all the goofy joking shit I would dig his performances a lot more. his jokes and goofy facial expression etc. annoy me too for sure. If he just did nothing but drop really trippy dark serious beats I would be all about it.

ha i never realized he's hilarious too, this is awesome.

It's only one fookin' hour and it's full of great moments. Just watch the full video man ....

That was ridiculously awesome! I watched the whole thing.

Lessons to be had, now considering incorporating a mic/pedal into my set up for a few things.

the first thing i said when i saw it was 'this is mind blowing if it weren't for that hat' , it's funny how someone acting a little bit too show-offy can ruin an awesome thing to some extent.

I remember Jamie Lidell's performance a few years ago. Oh boy was that too...

I showed my kids the OP's Beardyman video - they loved it! My son couldn't stop grinning at the video, and laughed every time he did some seemingly impossible sound with his mouth.

The man's talented, no doubt.

it's worth bearing in mind that this gig was at a comedy club (as part of a comedy festival) so he was probably interacting and cracking jokes a bit more than he would at, say, a music festival.

Seems like some people would prefer a beatboxer doing Autechre style standing still in the dark hardly visible... Thats sort of what he did at the gig I was complaining about up there.
