That's a good description of it, yeah. both are great outros. he seemed much better at ending albums back in his older days than now (even Nanou2, while a great track, is an ok ending track)

^I think Actium & Matchsticks are just okay myself (though the latter does have a great ending to it), but the rest of those are indeed very good closers to me. Nanou2 also makes a good closer, but to me it sounds a bit too much like a short chord sequence being played over the course of three minutes.

But I guess I really can't compare, Drukqs (besides Tuss) was really his last full album

has he done any other tracks with a similar atmosphere to Pancake Lizard? I want a full album of tracks like that. ICBYD should be similar but it's too artificial or something. They're nice but they feel like there's this smoothness that distances it from reality/organic feel

Ventolin is fucking great. Seriously. Also, it's one of the best tracks to do nitrous to.

The echoed THWAP of the snare in Acrid Avid is one of my favorite Aphex Moments every time it happens.

I can't decide my favorite track on this album.. its a fight between the titans Alberto Balsalm and Acrid Avid.. theyre both so fucking good. Someone care to persuade me in one direction or the other?

And Mookid. These are my favvvorites. If you* were to partition RDJ's output into equivalence classes (under some vaguely defined relation** I've constructed in my head), both Alberto Balsalm and Mookid would be in the same class. A few tracks from Come To Daddy EP would be there too: To Cure A Weakling Child (Contour Regard), Funny Little Man and IZ-US. There are others. But, I go through phases and I may not agree with this in a few months.

There's something about the atmosphere on this album that I really like. Some of the best music I've ever heard.

was just revisiting this and donkey rhubarb and realized that I dont much like Analord AFX. He should get back into string samples and more warped sounding drums and melancholy moods. that Chosen Lord/Tuss stuff is just wussy retro stuff and does not hold up over time like ICBYD and donk rhub. for me, anyway. these two are as good as it gets.

I think that's some of his most badass and sinister music, next to Drukqs.

I think Aphex's true peak hit with this album imo, although Drukqs/Analord are absolute masterpieces...I just think his creativity was bursting around this time

yes i've been exploring older afx and it just seems deeper.

analord sounds like him wanking off and having some fun

both good, but very different.

it's kind of funny how acrid avid seems so inviting and warm, and then after it draws you in, it traps you and you get terrorised by really sinister tracks like ventolin, slags, and icct hedral, and then towards the end it starts to let up with alberto balsalm and mookid. and i agree with next heap with being an outstanding ending. some of the tracks seem just plain evil, and some of them are so heavenly and peaceful.

Acrid Avid Jam Shred reminds me of the Chozo Ruins in Metroid Prime.
