it's seriously not a bad idea, as long as the submissions are rather minimal i can see this coming out ok.

woah! i remember this project, it was originally my idea! nice one on resurrecting it though. i'll try to find the original 'compilation' later tonight and upload it, it actually turned out pretty good.

i'll do a track this time as well.

we'll also need someone who is good at mixing to compile the tracks at the end.

the logistics of mixing it are interesting. something that's compressed will drown out some uncompressed low mix, if they're all mixed equally. calculate RMS and divvy shit up?

i'm thinking maybe a dynamic mix? that's how we did it last time and it sounds awesome.

yeah, why not? i don't think everyone'll be able to send that kind of quality of file, but the higher, the better.

you should set a minimum. I am NOT a lossy nazi like some, but if there ever were a style of music which shines in lossless it is this....

yeah, i was thinking that to begin with, to be honest - i've done a preliminary version of my track, and it's at 24bit wav. i doubt everyone would be able to even record at 24bit though, but i think wav/flac minimum.

i'd say just ZIP a .WAV and be done with it.

the dynamics are going to be a big thing in this track, i reckon. i don't want just a wall of cacophony for 20 mins, so we'll see how the mixing goes. if i bollocks up the mixing, i'll stick the separate wavs in my dropbox and ask someone decent to do it.

I'm thinking we should try to keep it dynamic, that nobody stay at full blast for more then x ammounts of time. bursts of noise tickle my balls, but if we have ten tracks of static compressed to shit playing for 19:06 over some more subtle glitchery this won't be much fun. or maybe it will. I don't know. I'll keep my most abrasive stuff short and sweet, probably with some silence in there as well.

to make it easy on myself and to simultaneously show off my cock and balls i will make a drone using my arp2600. Whos going to give out the frequencies? what's the frequency kenneth?

i might submit some post-black metal. mostly covering the lower frequencies.

RE: the encoding, I think you should stress that people send in the lowest fidelity file they can. The lossy algorithm will add further noise artifacts into the end result. This, I believe, will take 1906 to an entirely different level of genius.
