just a small example is like on my ipod. when you plug your headphones in, it switches the ipod on. thanks apple, but I'm perfectly capable of sliding the little thing on top to unlock it instead.

Also, you have to run Live, Reason, and most other audio programs through Wine on linux. Dunno how well it works, but it sounds like a hassle. Renoise has a native linux version though. Fuck yeah.

That's why I haven't bothered installing Linux... last I had heard Wine is fairly unstable, but that was lke a year or two ago... and for some reason, the Ubuntu partitioner won't work on my compy, and I know next to nothing about such things.

Haven't yet had a problem. I just ignore certain updates to avoid breaking the system.

And yes, when the end is to make music, I'm not interested in spending the time to configure a barely usable Linux setup; this from an ex-staunch Gentoo/Slackware user who spent the time trying to make it work. There simply isn't enough of a professional interest, yet, to encourage the proprietary developers to switch gears.

I have a working Windows setup going that I've become fairly comfortable with, but I'm giving Logic a go now, you know, to see if I was missing anything.

lols thinking about how limited I would be if I would have listened to everyone whom had never even used a mac telling me to get a mac and sticking to them for making music when I was 15. How could I ever afford all this pirated software along with all the gear I've accumulated
