Hey everyone, sorry I haven't gotten around to doing this, school + work have been brutal on my time.

So anyway, here is a poll to what your favorite album/era/week/whatever was/is, and list why if you like, or even list your favorite albums from best to worst (I plan to)! Have fun, and I hope that the cycle was at least somewhat interesting for the fans here. :aphexsign:

I voted on drukqs because I can't decide, but that was his first album I ever got right when it came out, so it's just a bit more personal than the others. & perhaps the one he put the most effort into. imo everything he does is basically on the same level in some way, except for a few things that are obviously silly wank offs.

At first i new that this cycle would be a good idea. But it's truly wonderful to see how much contribution these threads got. It really shows how meaningful these albums are to all of us, for unique ways that may only pertain to yourself. I normally don't have a lot to say about anything (i'm sure people know that), and i really didn't for most of these threads. But i still listened to these albums during their corresponding weeks, and i definitely FELT a lot more than i wrote. Technical aspects and details are something i'd assume many members notice right away, and find fascinating in a musically theoretical sense (in ways pertaining to unconventional structure and obscure innovations). They can be interesting and i definitely like Richard's ideas, but it's not really what i'm drawn to. And it's not exactly what enthralls me. This could maybe be because i'm not a composer, nor do i know anything about musical technology. What gets to me is the things i think of, or the way i feel. like imaginary landscapes and fictional scenes that play in my head, or abstract visuals that really can't be described. It's great when a track can make me feel happy. But i also like it when a track can make me feel scared, disoriented, uneasy, high on adrenaline, etc. I even like it when a track can make me sad. With sad movies, that's the idea, but with music it's just an entirely different dimension. What is a sunny day to one, could be cloudy day to another. what's cold to one, could be warm to another. sometimes you can relate, sometimes you can learn. it's what i enjoy most about this sort of thing

I voted for SAW2 because I'm so proud of my contribution to that week. I did a full review of all 25 tracks, plus a best to worst of that album. I wish I'd contributed more towards the end, though. I kinda fizzled out half way through.

I liked this bit.

I got into Aphex Twin as Drukqs was being released, so my first albums were Drukqs, I Care, and RDJ Album. But I voted for the Smojphace and Mixes for Cash week because I remember being ridiculously excited for my Smojphace CD to come in the mail, and how awesome his Heroes Symphony Remix was the first time I heard it.

Just wasn't a big enough Aphex fanboy yet to get into the Drukqs block. Fantastic album though.
