The Novation lauchpad with PC based Laptop running Albeton seem to be popular with Cylob, Goon and Wisp.

Autechre have moved from the Elektrons + G2 + MPC1000 + CME Bitstream to two Powerbooks (with Max I presume) and a NL2X.

I saw Plaid with two laptops (couldn't get any closer).

I've read Clark uses two MPC1000's and Plastikman was using a Powerbook and two iPads before they got knicked.

Ceephax  does it the old fashioned way with his vintage Rolands + some workstation keyboard and a machinedrum last time I saw him.

Snares was using a CD player and a Macbook for FX (I think).

Fuck Buttons use a Macbook and a load of cheap looking kit.

Has anyone seen or know what any other electronic artists are using live these days hardware/software wise?

Anyone who mentions Daft Punk can go suck arshole. :diablo:

they all seem to use different things all the time and for different gigs i reckon. not the same stuff every single time.

maybe Ae did on their last tour, tho...

seen Plaid using 2 of those new-ish Novation SL keyboard controllers.. and Focusrite Saffire interface.. but not at the same gig.

Mark Bell has used the same interface live.

they (Plaid) always have their Powerbooks with them at every live gig .. and a small-ish mixing desk (mackie?), and loads of colourful wires which i always think is cool :)

Plaid used to have their JP-8000 with them at live gigs, but not these days.

Ive seen quotes from him saying that immediately after he realised it was unplugged and plugged it back in. Still though, pretty funny. I dont go to see Justice for their Technical knowledge, Im fairly sure Ive got more and I nearly have none.

He seems pretty tricked out in the photos and probably on drugs and either didn't realize it was unplugged or knew it was but secretly did it because he thought it was for the best that he didn't mess anything up. Either way I hate Justice

...that's from their "Unplugged Session"

lol

I remember when me and a buddy played a live set thing at an open stage evening, we played a wav set and pretended to twist knobs and shit, just because we didn't want to accidently ruin everything. It's kinda lazy but ok in my book, the point is to put on a good show and make people dance.

shame on you :nelson:

I feel bad if I was just pretending to twiddle knobs. If I was that nervous about fucking up I'd do as much preparation as possible so that it would be pretty hard for me to screw up while still giving me something to do.

I'd be more nervous standing there pretending to be doing something than i would actually doing it for real!!!

at least you can lose yourself a bit in what you're doing and forget the crowd, if you're actually performing something "LIVE" and having to do something with your hands and your brain! .

that's really weird, to pretend along to a wav track, lol , it's akin to what fucking popstars do. in that they just mime and dance about and look pretty, while pretending to be really charismatic and talented!!

that's shamefull, imo. lol

Squee, it seems that their MPD in your pic is connected via usb thought...I love to play live, whether it's acoustic or electronic. So, I never "cheat" with the crowd, or I would loose my musician's proud. And well even when I fail, it kinda forces me to work harder, which is not a bad thing

I strongly feel the same

seriously standing up there pretending I'm doing something would feel so weird. Its really not a big deal when a bunch of people are watching you do something anymore but a bunch of people watching you do nothing would feel so weird for a lot of reasons.

Its unreal that so many people in electronic music do this kind of shit "performing"

Ok guys I didn't meant this first pic but the first pic in his latest post (the "another pic from justice unplugged session" one). I'd better use some quotes here but I couldn't. Yet everyone will think I'm an idiot
