i remember reading an interview they did back in 2002 i think it was where they said they were wanting to cement their sound first, then they might experiment.. ?

MHTRTC/Geogaddi/tCH + the stuff they did for Skam, etc. has certainly cemented their sound,

good point, i was gonna start a thread along the lines of discussion regarding the difference in sound between BoC during the Skam era and BoC after it. there's a very definite change.

yeah, i agree. i think you have their Skam stuff and MHTRTC in one corner. then ABPOITC/Geogaddi. then tCH...

thinking about it i reckon tCH was their 'trying to do something a little bit different and experiment more now' album.

and MHTRTC/Geogaddi had cemented their own sound.

i never really got into tCH, tbh. i thought it was pretty weak compared to their previous stuff, and their brilliant early stuff.

i've only listened to it a few times since it came out. so i hope they've been experimenting a lot more the last 4 years and done something that's very different to that album!

I think the tracks on the recent Unheard compilation just prove that Warps cupboards are bare when it comes to old Boards Of Canada and Autechre.

No, it proves that they asked particular artists for a contribution, and those tracks are the result of that. Nothing more. Record labels don't generally keep 'unreleased' material, the artists in question usually do.
