So why can't you leave the football subforum for those who do? No one's forcing you to come in here and post your opinion about sports. Christ the whole reason the subforum got created is so people who don't want to see talk about football don't have to.

Also - 22 men kicking a ball around for millions of pounds each week is nowhere near the same thing as boys/men being captured, put in chains, shipped hundreds or even thousands of miles to Rome and then being made to fight to the death for nothing. Now I know you're going for the whole "bread and circus" aspect of it - so what do you make of music festivals? theatre? movies? internet forums? those are all devices used to distract people from the mundane, daily grind of working; or more sinisterly, they are all tools of government/business used to keep the sheep in a state of numbness.

the video, from 2006, was talking about something that is abhorrent, racism in football (well racism in general is abhorrent, but the video's focus is on racism in football). To argue that it is not a problem is silly, but to argue that one negative aspect negates the whole process is even sillier.
