Man that track would be soooo much better without that super forward in the mix, terrible vocal effect. What the fuck is that?

Makes me really glad that I saw SP play a few times when he was peddling the crazy stuff instead of leaning on gimmicks and naff tracks.

Baseline in that track is cool tho, and his playing is nice as always, but really.... This really aint so good..

Quite why it deserves the silly amount of promotion and hype it's getting is utterly beyond me,

Yeah he was round here canvasing again, flyers, bunting, baby kissing etc.

All I mean is that there's a tonne of releases that go relatively un noticed, without the fan fair, websites, videos and multitude of forum threads that this gets, which is a shame considering how meh this really is.

Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster blah blah blah.

Anyway, I scored a digital promo of the Shobaleader One album for review yesterday. I'm not gonna be a dick and spoil the album by giving away too much about it before it's released; I have too much respect for Tom and Warp and it wouldn't be fair - the reviews should start trickling through fairly soon anyway.

Basically I just wanted to warn you guys to expect to be surprised (an oxymoron, I know :-)). Cryptic Motion and Megazine did not prepare me in any way for some of the moves that get pulled on this record. A lot of fans are going to lose their shit over how this record sounds - some in a good way, others not! But that's how it should be I suppose.

I've been listening since last night and it's still messing with my head that he has the balls to put out something that sounds like this. For every passage of sublime beauty there is a part that I was thinking WHAT THE FUCK.

As for whether or not this is an actual band playing, I still have no idea. I suspect not, but then again there's some musical influences in here that I just can't fathom having come from Tom himself.

So yeah, just wanted to say that really and encourage people to be open minded about this record - it's a strange one :-)

I like the new tracks and am intrigued by the album. This sits with me far better than the Just A Souvenir album.

Yeah alittle bit more funk, or lick driven. Only thing i am unsure about is the loud vocoder thing. The level is abit too loud, needs to sit back in the mix abit.

All of this is good to hear. I was hoping it wouldn't be predictable. Bring the weirdness.

I dig the vocoder, it's really stuck in my head. I've listened to that video quite a shit load, I found it pretty catchy and enjoyable. The video was directed by Jo Apps who put a 7" out on Planet Mu ages ago. Supposedly she's Patrick Wolf's sister (?) and she did the ridiculous vocals on Venetian Snares 'Dance like You're selling Nails' track.

Your message made me so happy Lucy I actually preordered the album.

Damn it, I would have buy it anyway.

so far so annoying. 'Megazine' sounds like it's trying to be Daft Punk

foods in the tone of 'go to the fuckin store'

patayda chips

apple cracker thangies

carrots in brown paper bag

i like this, it's fresh

regarding the image, it's like daft punk meets sunn o)))
