do you have any goals for your music?

Recommended Posts

my first goal when i started making electronic music was to sound like squarepusher

next i wanted to do something unique & original but still ended up influenced too much

tonight i realized if i work hard enough that i may get to collaborate with my influences

i would be really happy if i could get wayne lonesome on track, or liz fraser, et cetera

what are your goals? do you compare yourself to other artists? favorably/disfavorably?

i find i'm most satisfied with the results of my production when i don't overscrutinize

not having watmm the center of my daily routine for the first time in 6 years helps too

are your goals intrinsically or extrinsically motivated? how do you respond to criticism?

I would have fucking loved for John Peel to have played one of my tracks

Especially if he had played it at the wrong speed :cisfor:

My goals since starting writing music have been fairly simple. Create some stuff that I like.

Going further than that, I would love to get an EP together that was released on a netlabel. Im not aiming too high here, I think this is achievable one day.

ps tht tne - thanks for your comments on my track. I think it is music - its more of a concept piece really :whistling:

i would like one day to walk into a record shop and see one of my albums. and not in the bargin $1 bin. and to still be proud of the music within. gonna have to be quick on achieving that as they won't last forever

lolzzzlz!

Well, I suppose my point is, someone else who has set up a website and called it a netlabel will like my tracks enough to want to put their name to it.

I try not to repeat myself. After I complete an album I dedicate several months to trying new production techniques, listening exclusively to new music in genres I hadn't previously pursued, that sort of thing. In theory that would mean that I might not even be doing electronic music in a few years but some other form, & then something different a few years after that, & so on.

haha finishing a track is a pretty good goal for me at this moment. :D
