Would also love having a release on a prominent label.

your tracks are top quality, hope it works out!

I've actually got a new release that's finished, but I'm looking for a label.

I haven't read the rest of this thread yet, so sorry if I repeat anything anyone's already said...

what are your goals? do you compare yourself to other artists? favorably/disfavorably?

It's like gender and height: there's more variation within the quality of a single artist's output than comparing one good artist to another. If you look at any musician's total work, signed or unsigned, their worst track will be absolutely terrible. With many, their best track will be absolutely wonderful. The trick is, in large part, learning where to draw the line with what you choose to release to the public.

how do you respond to criticism?

I find constructive criticism not just useful but pretty much necessary for improvement. Performance, feedback revision. If other people can tell you which version of a track is better, it helps you push it further in the right direction.

i like to have 2 goals:

1: for it too be good

2: to make girls dance or like it

I'm gonna be a bit of a dick and say that those two points kind of contradict eachother, lol.

I'd have to agree there.

I'd say music for dancing is not music for the sake of music, and thus it is very uncommon for dance music to be quality music. Then you have women who, though I've often tried to fight the idea for the sake of equality, have generally worse taste in music. There are exceptions of course.

you both have good points, very well, either i want my music to be good or girls to dance to it, never at the same time. my first point was also terrible.

think ma lady is the exception she has great taste

BUT I THINK IT CAN BE DONE.

By all means, I think you should definitely strive for both if you can. It's just tricky.

monolake? I consider them to be both (not all tracks, but a few).

A little too glitchy and/or ambient for dancing IMO.

I'd say wattm's own Erothyme does a pretty good job.

A piece of vinyls with my music on it on a decent label and the funding of said wax isn't coming out of my own pocket ;)

Also, to hear my work played out somewhere and see people go apeshit and get down.

10 days

Yes id absolutely love to hear one of my tracks get dropped in a club, see a serious boomtastic reaction from the crowd, stand at the back of the room supping on a beer nodding my head with a wry smile

"my work here is done"

arrange sounds in such a way that it can entertain, stir emotions, and provoke daydreams

it's mostly all for me, but i do like to share to see what others think. the lack of interest from others pushes me to work harder, any praise gives me confidence, any criticism offers a new perspective. so, while i focus on making songs for myself, i do value the opinions of others.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
