the luke vibert sample spotting thread

Recommended Posts

I think it's high time we had a thread like this.

First off, This site has a whole lot of things, mostly from spoken word samples. I'm not going to list them all but you might want to read through it.

Next, the relatively few I have spotted that aren't just common breaks, to my knowledge:

The opening bassline of Funky Acid Stuff - Honky Tonk Popcorn by Bill Doggett

The "get down and wreck shit" line from Reedin' - The Session by The Roots

The "we interrupt this program of dance music" from My Style - War Of the Worlds by Orson Welles

The "step up front" from Registarse - Bumpin' Bus Stop, don't know who it's by but I've heard that sample elsewhere

The "please mr groove" and "can you feel it" from Sparky is a Retard - Mr. Groove and Can You Feel It. Thank you google.

The vocals in A Fine Line are from The King's Singers doing two covers.

I think the beginning of Memory Towel is from Buffalo Girls.

Oh and the strings and horns in Shadows are from 007 and Counting from the Moonraker soundtrack, and the vocals from a song called Spare Some Love. I forget the band name. Damn you not being able to edit.

The vocal from Shadows is from the group "Rennaisance"

THANK YOU! I spent a ridiculous amount of time listening to that track trying to figure it out. There's not a lot out there with the lyrics.

That voice at the end of London-Amen VS Spac is definitely the guy who narrates little Britain

Luke cut it up damn fine to make searching the lyrics hard. To actually articulate the two songs...

My Romance - here

Down with Love - Your own post here

And as you can see in here they did both of those songs.

Another one - The second drum loop that comes in over the Apache Break in Sorry I Make You Lush is Orange Krush - Action.

Anyone know where the beginning of Funky Acid Stuff is from? I've always thought the voice sounded a bit like Derren Brown (don't think it's him though).

I always thought it was just Luke processing his voice weirdly.
