plaid early 2000s idm

what are your favourite idm releases from the early 2000s? i've just rediscovered a few of mine since acquiring near mint vinyl copies.

plaid - double figure

brothomstates - claro

lfo - sheath

bola - fyuti

i know there are the obvious ones like drukqs, confield, geogaddi etc, but it would be nice to hear some stuff that wasn't talked about quite as much. anyway post your favourites and let's get a little bit of 8-10 years ago nostalgia going.

squarepusher - go plastic

casino versus japan - whole numbers play the basics

boards of canada - geogaddi

four tet - pause

isan - lucky cat

team doyobi - push chairs for grown ups

terminal11 - speed modified

plaid - trainer

marumari - wolves' hollow

go plastic / drukqs / confield / geogaddi

looking at that now, it really seems to me that those 4 albums are the end and the apex of "idm" leading up to them and "idm" after them leading up to the present day.

nothing has topped them, or even come remotely close.

in my opinion.

Four pretty much faultless albums there. Brothomstates and LFO are chronically underrated (or at least not mentioned enough) around here, I'd say. I might add the Astrobotnia releases, impressive range considering the time that they were released within.

This thread has made me feel a bit nostalgic.

Same. I almost immediately made myself a CD-R of just the upbeat tracks. Actually it wasn't that I didn't like the mellow tracks, I just felt the sequence of the tracks was completely out of wack, and not in a good way. I still feel this way actually.

Hyu - Random Walker's Delight (2002) = probably my favorite lesser known favorite, japanese idm guy who is pretty much retired now. some of the catchiest electronic music ever made basically

pitchfork has a funny review where they don't like the album and incorrectly think Jon is much younger than he is

Samples sound interesting. I'll check out that Hyu album too if I can find it.

i love afx, but i almost never listen to Drukqs. and when i do i have to turn it off pretty quick.

some nice recommendations in this thread. i missed out on a lot of stuff from that era, since i was mostly obsessed with afx and autechre, so i might give some of these others a try. i never really got into astrobotnia though, wasn't catchy enough. though i never got into early clark stuff either, so i should probably give both another listen.

yeah i did this too, except my cd had all of the breakbeat tracks up front and then worked its way to the piano tracks at the end.
