I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.

That Mux Mool sounded pretty proper. I was feeling that synthline. I'll have to peep the album.

This is another really appealing thing about the beat scene. It's full of actual performers. A lot of these cats really have their shit together in the live arena. They also apply a lot of real time musicianship in the studio. It really gives the music a much more natural feeling.

My thoughts exactly! It's great to watch and experience such a vibrant "scene" (though I hate the word it's unavoidable here) that's just really come together in the last year. Everyone's touring a ton, and my flatmate's have even put the dubstep to rest for a moment and are really, dare I say, enthusiastic about this shit. (Teebs and Flylo especially)

Good to be alive. being in North America/ east coast helps too I guess

Wait.. Nobody mentioned Lorn?

Lorn is a deadset killer, but his stuff is very rigid and not so "wonky" I feel.

plus he's the only non-LA resident on Brainfeeder.

God damn, fuck "wonky". This thread is for modern beat music. Plus Lorn is not the only non-LA resident on Brainfeeder. Jeremiah Jae is in Chicago.

Actually what i like the most from the whole album is how it sounds. I think Clark not just mastered it.

Lorn - Nothing Else - great album! Bit short though.

Teebs' album arrived through the letterbox this morning, after first listen I quite like but needs more play.

Cosmogramma is a great album but too many short tracks - could have done with less tracks and each fleshed out a bit more.

Los Angeles is a better album imo.

Just grabbing a few vids from my youtube, three sick beat based releases this year that can fit in this scene. I generally label it glitch-hop myself but whatever floats your boat.

If you dig the synth heavy stuff check out slugabed -

Jamie Vex'd's released an ep on planet mu under the name Kuedo this year and it is dope as hell -

Take has released a wicked record this year as well. -

Yeah me too. Kind of what I was getting at with my post on the first page. When I first got into it with Prefuse's first 2 albums, I was calling it trip-hop, because I didn't know what actual trip-hop was, and the stuff sounded like the beats were tripping over each other so I thought it fitting. But some time ago I realized glitch-hop was the right term. But inevitably, as the styles evolve and blend with other things, we're going to get new genre names.

I've been liking Take a lot lately too. Unfortunate name though.

Also, while Fly Lo is still fresh in the mind, can anyone confirm whether this is genuine or not????

Definitely some good stuff posted already. I've been impressed with Knxwledge lately.

I checked out Knxwledge's album when it came out and after a few spins, wasn't impressed at all.
