Assange being transferred to maximum security prison for terrorism related questioning

I just saw this. Haven't seen it reported anywhere else, and I don't know how reliable this site is as a source... But if it's true... Then fuck!

Oh, looks like wikileaks twitter page is confirming this...

I'm not sure if that will cause as much outrage as it should. Seems like for the collective interest to go through another wave of rage and hysteria (seeing as this whole business peaked a couple weeks ago), something big and attention grabbing has to happen. I found the media atmosphere in the middle of the last wave to be pretty exciting, but like most internet fads, that faded out naturally. :|

It says the Jan 11 case has been moved to Belmarsh - that just means the hearing is going to be in a different court.

Belmarsh Magistrates Court is next to Belmarsh Prison

This might just be for some simple reason like there's more room there for the press, or whatever. The judge has been pretty sensible so far, I don't think they're gonna suddently pull any silly moves on Assange.

what the guardian neglect to mention (and were made to clarify later) is... can you guess which paper was the first to publish that particular cable?

yeah i know, i found that article via wikileaks's twitter. so I agree that it is wrong that the article pins the blame on wikileaks alone, but the facts remain the same.

it depends on how much $ the United States throws in behind the scenes of the proceedings, my guess is they'ren going to try very hard

they neglected to mention the part where tsvangirai, organised a hit on mugabe. It was all a set-up to demonstrate his true moral standing by a media outlet (non-zimbabwe). That guys is a straight up cunt stooge in the employ of the british, a traitor to his people, who's supported within his country by the naive and disenchanted, and a few angry ex-colonials.

any more than the illegal gaza invasion (sorry, 'incursion') with mass death and destruction just a little while back. All these leaks are proving, is the utter impotence of the people.

well - these are things that everybody suspected to the point of 'it's obvious' for a long time. what a lot of cables are doing are just proving these things, something which removes the 'known unknown' factor, as rumsfeld would have said.

yeah i guess if you suport economic sanctions against your own country you can not be thought of as a good guy anyway. no matter how bad the other guy is.

you are correct, before we knew but didn't have to actual field recordings from the horses mouth. Which does make our pointless moaning at least a little more succinct.

sorry, i know that you are right, i'm just suffering from a case of the cynicals lately.

I don't understand how somebody could be prosecuted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act for the DDoS attacks when really, what each person individually was doing was not really threatening the operation of their servers. It's what happened when a whole bunch of people did it at the same time. Seems more like protesting by using legitimate and legal protocols. Doesn't feel right to me, unless it could be shown they were part of a criminal conspiracy, but how would they prove that these people were actually part of "operation payback"?

FUCK..... nevermind just read info above about the irc server IP thing.

I guess I'll post this anyways even though i admit to being an idiot and not reading about it at all.

huh this guy seems kind of crazy

he's got a good heart, but his delivery is rather muddled.

To the idea that the internet is a large scale spying apparatus. I agree that you would think that there would be inbuilt monitoring in place for reasons of national security in every windows machine for example. because it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility to posit that the holes in the operating system which were then located and exploited by hackers, were originally put in place as government backdoors to peoples systems. And once the hackers had started exploiting these things and anti-virus scanners blocked them, windows would close that hole and everyone would update their OS with new holes in place, and so the little game would continue.

Since the internet gives you any technology that two other countries possess, which is a problem cos as soon as Iran gets rocketry and fission and completes the manhattan project were buggered, America simply needs to get its arse in gear and either get to Alpha Centauri while it still has a technological advantage or go for world domination, becasue the chances of a diplomatic victory are looking slim and the chances of a cultural victory while Tycho is still alive are zero.

Interesting article in VF today about Assange threatening to sue the Guardian if they published stories about the cables without his permission first.
