Game of Thrones

ooo, but that's TV/film-logic. It's always about bluntly showing actions (apart from some Tarantino, for example, who actually focusses on the dialogue instead of some action). So the activity of sex, or "just going in" is - to a certain extent - a painful product of the limitations of the makers, who just don't have the amount of creative space - whatever that means - and time to show what should be in some awful script.

And I'm not sure which raped girl you mean in GOT, but I don't remember an example where a rape turned into "true love". Could be me though. Are you talking about the dragonlady? GOT especially is the kind of series where the raped girl kills the man in the end and runs of with the rich prince on the white horse. And "true love" only exists in fairy tales unlike GOT. GOT is about cynical powergames.

Joff-dog doing the dirty on that prostitute was pretty savage.. I dont know, call me crazy, but Im not a fan of rape scenes.

Joff-dog is presented as a dog, if not worse. And as far as I can tell that's something prostitutes have to actually be able to deal with, tbh. To be fair though, I have to point out that I live in liberal Holland with the red lights district and all. So this stuff tends to be more openly discussed.

One of the best episodes so far, I think. Final scene was great.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

Its funny how rixx complains about the role of women in GoT and then that happens.

The women in this show are strong (at least the main ones), i mean, season 3 is full of strong female characters, Queen of Torns, Margaery, Dany. There was this line Dany says to the translator girl "All men must die but we are not men".

This fictional universe is brutal, its just the way it is.

I can sort of understand where rixx is coming from, in the sense that if you are new to the series, it could initially appear that the book is brutal towards women. That said, when you get deep in to the series, you realize that the brutality is applied to everyone. I think one of the best things George Martin has going for his books is that he is totally willing to spend the time building up a character and give them the potential to what could be seen as the ultimate hero, or villain etc, and then purge them either by outright killing them off or twisting their storyline so that they have no redeeming qualities whatsoever (and vice versa).
