Also, I've been loving this blog lately: http://bm-80smetal.blogspot.co.uk/

Shit-tonnes of semi-obscure '80s metal bands with albums available for download. The logo looks like they nicked it off a box of Warhammer skeletons circa 1986 or so. Mint.

Rain Over Mountain is out now; 100% of Bandcamp sales are donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association:

ok.

i don't want to comment on the track (yet), but: so much for fucking "hypster"-culture. fenriz be like "record more serious", internet interprets it like "first black metal record since sardonic". like seriously that's exactly what the wiki says already and most obviously noone had even heard a single note while typing that because that song, good or not, doesn't even fuckign REMOTELY fit that description. like... FUCK! and i was naive enough to believe and pissing my pants with excitement... fuck you, internet!

that being said fenriz being so in yo face about his in influences i going on my tits by now. i mean it's cool n all but all that blabbering and self deconstruction is somewhat killing what TO ME music and especially heavy metal is about: immersion and escapism. i don't want to think "oooh this sounds like they're playing like something off the first poison idea record now, fancy!" while listening, i wanna FEEL like "wohoo the dragon is drinking the virgin's blood now" or whatever really. (self-) referentialist ironic fucks fuck off! (i still love em... even this phase brought forth some serious pearls like "hanging out in haiger"!! despite cultural relevance being next to 0. i don't care. i just prefer their black metal.)

Alcest is amazing, I don't care what elitists say about them not being real metal, metal or not, it's great stuff...

This one was always a favorite of mine:

That Terra Tenebrosa record is great, sounds genuinely evil and fucking scary in places. The 2016 one is great as well, proper demonic gear

Has anyone posted Blood Incantation yet? This album fucking rips, it's only 35 minutes but holy fuck do they cram that half hour full of brutality!

Nailed it about the overwrought excessive intepretation people are already assigning the music.

I just thought it was slow heavy and straightforward. It kicked ass. Look forward to hearing the rest of the album.

I actually really like Fenriz's almost forensic interest in metal and I've discovered loads of great bands off the back of it; part of what got me into Darkthrone and Fenriz was one of those videos where he's just talking at length about the kick drum sound off a Metal Church record. His enthusiasm/love for metal just shines through, same as where Legowelt's talking about some sort of obscure Japan-only FM synth or something

been enjoying the latest Vektor album lately.. gotta check out their other stuff. great prog-thrash with cosmic death metal elements (I guess? somehow reminds me of Nocturnus).

Going to see Ghost Bath on Friday! Buddy of mine paid for the ticket, I'm stoked.

Anyone else here just love the fuck out of this album? I recommend the shit out of it.

yep, was a wonderful and quite unexpected return to "melody" after the more industrious and / or cacophonous "work" and "odin"... the former is still my fav tho. this tune is just relentless:

loving the godflesh vibes. GSÜE!
