Guest goodwillsidis
3 owns, lots of little improvements over 2 + launchpad support is way cool for fast live control. i made my last full-length & couple eps & most all the stuff on my soundcloud by jamming out midi from Numerology to hardware (mpc, 626, fs1r, tx802) while tape is running. ryancolecreate
are presets automatically mapped to the launch pad? That's one thing in 2 that is a bit annoying. The mapping system is a bit tedious. I'm going to buy 3 SE and probably a launchpad this week. :D I think that SE would do nearly everything I want. The only thing I'd really miss is the audio mixer.... That would enable some really cool parallel effects stuff, but I think it's work-around-able with sends... ryancolecreate
this shit is too fun. In the next big firmware update Jim is going to simplify controller mapping for the presets, which will make it way easy to build jammable sets. yay! Right now I've got it hooked up to the ms2000, preen fm, sp-202 (some pretty gnarly feedback stuff is possible with the ringmod), and the trusty old cz-101. Drumspillage on beats running as an AU. Everything's running into a little 8 channel mixer with sends so it\s super fun to jam with. I've got a feedback send with a cheapo digitech bass pedal and the sp-202 in series which does some cool self oscillating stuff that is really formable with the eqs and ringmod settings. Like a little drone machine in the BG. :D Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide ryancolecreate's signature Hide all signatures ------ dailyambient.com ------ New Ambient Music Every Day. ryancolecreate
Here's some of the noise from the feedback loop. It's amazing how variable it is. This is only from 3 settings on the multieffects, but if you have something with an lof running you can get some cool rythmic stuff going on. I have 2 different guitar multi-effect units, ones a digitech bp50, and the other is a zoom g2. The G2 is nicer sounding but the bp50 does the best with feedback. The G2 just gets all squealy, but the bp50 freaks out and makes more interesting sounds. Envelope followers go nuts. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://dl.dropbox.com/u/731647/noise%20fuckery.mp3 I suppose this could even be a noise track hahaha. The right channel keeps disappearing and I have no idea why lol. ryancolecreate
I think I'll keep playing around with this non-sequenced kind of stuff as it's way more organic sounding than anything you could do with a sequencer. Cheap effects are so perfect for this. awepittance
so i just got the 3.1.2 build and i have some questions. How in the fuck does one 'rescan' au plugins? The new version says it has VST support but for the life of me i can't find a single option on the program that lets me set my VST directory or anything like that, and no VST plugins or even the option/category for them is listed in my modules, only like 4 of my 100 AU plugins show up, which is very frustrating. HELP :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/62730-numerology-five12/page/2/#findComment-1806203 Share on other sites
ryancolecreate
i think you have to do that with the native AU validator thing... no vsts that know of. maybe you're confusing it with the vst version of numerology itself? :-0 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide ryancolecreate's signature Hide all signatures ------ dailyambient.com ------ New Ambient Music Every Day. awepittance
fuck you're right, i misunderstood. anyways yeah i guess most of the plugins i want to use like Reaktor have AU versions to. So what's this native AU scanner i need to do? I seriously cannot find out how to rescan my au in numerology. IT's not made clear like it is in Cubase, Logic or ableton Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/62730-numerology-five12/page/2/#findComment-1807757 Share on other sites
schlucharski
all au plugs are located in /HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. imho Num. will look into this folder meaning scan it on startup. dunno if the au have to be validated but slight could be right. To validate just start logic. but however I think your problem is, already validated plugins that run in logic, do not show up in num. and for this case i don't have an answer for you good sir. just found this (but still no solution for the last case, sry): If you have Logic already open, then you should save the current project first. If not, launch Logic. Within Logic go to Logic Pro > Preferences > Start Logic AU Manager A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to "Quit Logic Pro and start the Logic AU Manager?" Click the button that says "Start AU Manager". The Logic AU Manager will open, and all plug-ins recognized by Logic will appear in the list. Plug-ins that have been disabled or are no longer installed will be greyed out. Find the plug-in you would like to validate and either toggle the check-box or click the "Rescan" button. The AU Manager will open a dialog box with information related to the scan. on http://www.izotope.c...mod_id=2&id=271 Edited April 28, 2012 by schlucharski Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide schlucharski's signature Hide all signatures this is not a statement Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/62730-numerology-five12/page/2/#findComment-1807808 Share on other sites

Nil
easier trick if you have troubles with AUs in N3 : go to user/library/application support/five 12/numerology and delete AuInfoCache.nmo then start Numerology et voilà Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Nil's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/62730-numerology-five12/page/2/#findComment-1807960 Share on other sites
Nil
also, whenever a plugin is both AU and VST there are many advantages using the AU, such as a much more precise range for parameters. the only downside is that AU that generate MIDI will have a latency while their VST counterpart may not (ex N3AU vs N3VST). awepittance
just wanted to stop in and say this program continues to amaze me. Usually when i use the drop down menu to 'add modulator' i put in ones that act as LFOs to control instruments. This time i did it without having anything on the screen besides a sequencer and goddam if you can't automate almost every parameter in the sequencer with a modulator. I guess i shouldn't be surprised, but it's pretty amazing. ryancolecreate
yep that's the idea. :) It's totally modular in every sense of the word. You can even put an lfo or envelope on a single step in a sequencer if you want. Or the key filter (that's a great way to make chord progressions btw), or even the step length. You should hang out over at the five12 forum to see what some of the nut jobs over there come up with. It's quite crazy. ryancolecreate
Just got a launchpad to use with Numerology. It's awesome. You have access to basically everything in the racks, and can sequence without even needing to touch the computer. Badass.
