I saw the videos on the site and automatically had an idea to use this for a minimal techno set in the style of Steve Reich, King Crimson and of course Autechre.. Off to a slow start but it seems pretty cool so far. What have you guys been doing with it? Any interesting examples? i use it almost primarily to control hardware synths, somehow it feels more in tune with that workflow than other sequencers, probably because it's fashioned off of old modular synth/cv sequencers. A good amount of my upcoming album Delta Quadrant was done using Reaktor running in tandum with Numerology sequencing all hardware synths and effects Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/62730-numerology-five12/page/3/#findComment-2097597 Share on other sites
modey
Sounds awesome! Yeah, I'm giving this a try because I'd like something a bit more freeform than my previous live sequencing software (seq24). Ideally I'd love something that allows me to build an entire set from scratch, on the fly, and this is pretty close. I've still got a long way to go in terms of learning it, but I'm excited about the nice rhythm play/counterpoint possibilities. Actually one thing I haven't managed to figure out yet, and I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'm trying to separate the mononote's interval sequencer and step length sequencer.. as far as my initial experiments have shown, it doesn't seem possible to control the CV interval sequencer with the mononote's step length sequence.. for example, a 5 note melody on the interval sequencer, with the step lengths being controlled by a 7 step sequence. Your stuff sounds pretty close to my initial experiments.. except a lot better, haha. I think the strength of this software will really show once I hook it up to external gear. I think it'll really help me expand on the murky polymeter minimal techno stuff I was producing a few years ago. Nil
N4 beta tester here, Jim has succeed in turning his fantastic sequencer into something even better. Many, many improvements ! I'm especially looking forward the upcoming "Grid Module" (check Five12's MB for more info), which will let us customize our grid controller quite deeply, even going into monomish territories. Damn, I'm so impatient to share/release my to-be-completed LP, sometimes next year : it was all done with Numerology Pro. It's less "experimental" than your upcoming album John though (even if quite complex sequencing/routing are involved in my Num stacks) : think heavily modulated synth-driven 4/4 braindance, with lots of love for noises and all kinds of reverb / delay weird bursts (if that make any sense). Such an inspiring sequencer ! modey
cool! What are the differences between SE and pro versions? I have an 'acquired' version of the pro version just for testing (I don't like the demo version model; I want to be able to learn how to use the software properly without limitations before deciding if I want to pay or not), but will definitely buy it if I end up using it. Nil
Definitely if you are really not sure what you need, SE is the way to go -- you can always upgrade later. The specific things that N3 Pro has over SE are:- Multi-output support for hosted AudioUnits.- Monophonic audio routing support.- OSC (Open Sound Control) support.- Custom scale quantization (via the Custom Scale module).- Several advanced modules for working with CV signals.- More customization options for the Evolve function.Cheers,Jim http://www.five12.com/vbForum/showpost.php?p=8747&postcount=4 I've owned Numerology since v1, and I went for Pro when upgrading, to have no limitations at all. All the advanced modules are worth the price difference IMHO. Also, you'll get access to v4 beta when you own N3Pro.
