It's literally an album of unfinished sketches. Very good sketches I may add, but it just feels like he's scoured his HDD over the past few years finding the tracks that show promise and rather than finish them, he's just given them to 4AD and said "deal with it"

Most of his work is like this actually.

Yeah you hit some really important aspect of Zomby that it somehow sounds unfinished, rough... with an album like "where were u in 92" it totally fits and adds to the atmosphere, but with the tunes on "dedictation", which seem like they should sound monstrous and perfected, it actually destroys a lot of possible atmosphere.

Check my dusty tunes and mixes over here: https://soundcloud.com/2kn

yes because if he worked just a little harder, and more discerningly like choosing a different synth preset than his typical squarewave/sid chip fast arpegio sound than his music would loose 'it's charm'

I feel like I should enjoy Zomby. When I zoom out a bit it sorta reminds me of an amateurs first attempts at electronic music. Cheesy arps and overdone hi hat work. I can't figure out the appeal.

I am half way through the album since I posted about about 15 mins ago, lol.

Ordered!!!!

Sounds mint to me. I like the dark resonating simplicity of it. I usually buy vinyl but this is a cd album as you could listen to it as one long peice of music. Like one 35 minute track.

Played it a few times since getting it.

Mmm some of the tunes are like post-rave, urban nursery rhymes.

I like. A lot.
