The 1st time I had the Torpedo I loved it but every time after that I didn't like it, so I stopped trying after more or less buying 3 "5 packs" for a friend or whatever.

true-word life

After drinking the 6 in both bottle and glass, a good ipa this does not make.

i was also disappointed with the Theolonius Monk Abbey Ale....tasted like a slightly superior La Fin Du Monde (so basically a tint of ale with a mouthful of hard alcohol)

I liked the 90 Minute, but prefer the 60 Minute for being a bit smoother-drinking.

I felt the same way about Brother Thelonius -- not as snazzy as I expected. I do think their Pranqster is good, though. And I think Unibroue's Trois Pistoles is a better version of the Brother Thelonius. I don't think you can go wrong with Unibroue, love their beers!

Brother Thelonius is North Coast, right? All of their brews have a slightly sour and cloying finish/aftertaste to me, but I like them for the most part. Old Rasputin is by far their best. Old Rasputin is godly.

Knob Creek was not completely awesome.

Have replaced with Buffalo Creek, which is more awesome. Elijah Craig is still my favorite mid-range bourbon, I think.

Guest uptown devil

knob creek is a bit overhyped i think, but it's pretty readily available at bars so isn't too bad of an option. bulleit is a pretty decent mid-range, though it seems like it has gone up in price considerably since i last bought it from the liquor store. it's especially nice with a little splash of ginger and a lime, if you're into that sort of thing.

Knob's OK - but I've read that it's just standard Jim Beam that's spent an extra 5 years in the barrel. Not worth the price IMHO.

I'm drinking less these days, but if I'm going to pick up a bottle of US whiskey it's going to be a Woodford Reserve or Sazerac rye.

I don't care for Bulleit much myself, but it forms the basis of a frankly absurd cocktail that you used to be able to get in Wetherspoons called a "bulleit breaker" - equal parts Bulleit and amaretto topped up with coke. If you want a stupidly sweet mixed drink that's fun for the winter, it's worth trying. Once.

Oh man, snananananananeeeekstaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa -- I can't wait to try that one. Heard tons about its awesomeness.

Just got some Four Roses for an anniversary present -- straightforward and smooth.

baph - do you mean Buffalo Trace? Cause that shit's the shit.

Yeah, Buffalo Trace! I guess I couldn't get the Knob Creek taste out of the post.

Yeah pretty much the best beer ever ever ever.

you know they make breakfast stout aged on bourbon casks and maple syrup casks? i've seen one bottle of the maple syrup breakfast stout CBS pass hands for the price of, ehh, about six crates of Orval.

YEAH! I've never seen it though. I think it's called Kentucky Breakfast Stout or something.
