The site for the festival said that buying a ticket for Saturday was £48. OK, that's a lot of money, but it's Aphex Twin, it's worth it.

Went to buy tickets. I had to create a new account with two different services (LiveNation and Ticketmaster) to even get to buy a ticket. (I won't talk about how it was one of the most poorly designed sites I've used in ages, which didn't even remember which show I was trying to buy a ticket for, after I registered.)

On top of that, there's £5.75 "booking fee" - and then on *TOP* of that, there's a £3.25 "delivery charge" - to EMAIL tickets to an email account. That's not £3.25 just to send a first class delivery (stamp costs what, 40p?) that's over three pounds TO EMAIL A TICKET TO MY ACCOUNT.

The whole thing, all in all, would cost me nearly £60. For one day. 15% of which is mysterious "booking charges" and which charges me to use my own email account.

I would not mind if the extra £9 was going to Mr D.James because hey, I'd happily paypal him the cash if I thought it would make him finish his album(s) faster. But paying that much money in fees... no. Sorry. I don't care if that makes me a bad fan, but I'm not paying those fees. There's a limit to service fees, and this has crossed the line from "taking the piss" to "I'm just not paying it."

I understand that this is not something that Mr D.James has any control over, but I would suggest to Warp, or Rephlex, or to his booking agent, or to whoever set this up, that there is a limit to what fans will put up with.

Ticket surcharges appear to the biggest con ever (well that and expensive speaker cables). I can't believe how absurdly high those extra charges can add up to.

It's the old way of doing things (lots of middle men who want their piece) and it is why the concert/festival numbers are down in a lot of places.

I suppose if you are just going to see one act and all the others are cannon fodder then it seems even more of a rip off. But I agree with you MB.

ive never seen a ticketmaster box office? Perhaps there is one in London? But that would cost me more to drive/train into London to do that...

Really? There's no fee if you buy at the box office in Leicester Square? I work pretty near there, might go down and take a look. But early next week, not on a Friday night because that neighbourhood is hell on a Friday.

(just bought Chris Cunningham tickets from the Roundhouse for the rescheduled gig - £2 booking fee. And you can *choose* if you wanna donate more to support the Roundhouse. *THAT* is a reasonable way of handling the issue.)

This happened to me for L.E.D. Festival, massive rip off, especially just for one day. I even got charged for going to the on-site box office because it was too late to send tickets. I just bit the bullet cos the last time I saw him was Manchester. Roll on BLOC.

Festivals and flights basically. Bastards.

I'm gonna buy a ticket on the day. It won't be hard and will probably be cheaper.
