there are people alive with a small percentage of neanderthal dna

In fact most - if not all - members of this board would have some neandertal DNA according to recent discoveries.

an interesting thing the documentary turned up was their life expectancy. most men don't make it passed 50. and one guy who featured heavily had sired 10 children, only 5 of which survived beyond infancy... so they can't be using/abusing the NHS as much as i assumed.

or do they not believe in medical intervention for some reason?

The only part of the service they tend to engage with is the Emergency Department. As others have said, they have fucked up beliefs regarding health/superstitions etc, coupled with the widespread drugs/alcohol and violence then it's not massively surprising they don't live long. The uni I work at has done quite a lot of research into the health of travellers. I'm really glad that MBFGW has opened people eyes to what they're really like. It's a lot more messed up than "some chavs who'll pave your driveway".

dunno, alot of the stuff being recounted sounds suspiciously like the standard tales heard off mates / uncles in pubs.

once, they came to town and some of my gobby mates shouted "pikeys" at them once. a couple of them came over and warned us not to call them that, and that "travellers" was OK.

another time they came to town and they dug holes to bury all their shit and rubbish, which wasn't OK either, cause the council had buried a shit load of flammable chemical waste there in the 70s.

fucking lol. whose fault was that exactly.

this thread makes me sad.

i was going to start a new thread to ask people's opinions on the ongoing dale farm saga but i'll just do it here...

so what are people's opinions on the ongoing dale farm saga? should they be allowed to stay? they might own the land but they are breaking all kinds of regulations which everyone else has to adhere to. (building and sanitation regs, council tax, water rates, etc, etc). if they're travellers why are they making permanent homes? if they want to live in permanent homes shouldn't they adhere to the laws of the land like the rest of us? shouldn't travellers be nomadic as their name suggests? (although i know there are few places now for them to go without hassle)

what's a fair solution to this?

The 'traveller' lifestyle is an ancient tax avoidance scam masquerading as culture. They should be treated with the same disdain as cunts like Philip Green. Most people grow out of the provocative victim phase by the age of 6. There's nothing worse than the bully who repeatedly prods the dog with a stick, and when they're finally bitten, blames everyone but themselves.
