In January 2009, the Enquirer ran a story claiming that pop star Michael Jackson was gravely ill and had "six months to live."[25] Just under six months later, in June 2009, Jackson went into cardiac arrest and died in Los Angeles. In September 2009, the Enquirer broke the story of Jackson's final resting place, Forest Lawn. Two months later, just prior to Tiger Woods' auto accident near his Florida home, the Enquirer was the first to allege that the golf great was having an extramarital affair. Shortly after this report, several other women came forward in other publications alleging to have had affairs with Woods, and the golfer eventually admitted to having been unfaithful to his wife.

I'm not saying the Steve Jobs story is true.

But you can't deny the Enquirer had a lot of success in the past. We'll see in six months i guess.

They have slow news days when they report utter shit. But like i quoted before , they have published a shit load of stories that turned out to be true.

This Steve jobs story could be utter nonsense filler , we will have to wait and see.

"The National Enquirer is a supermarket tabloid," wrote the Washington politics blogger Emily Miller, who led a grassroots campaign to lobby the Pulitzer committee, "but the time has come for the media elite to admit that it has an excellent investigative reporting team, which broke the biggest political scandal of 2009."

i can predict now that a large asteroid will hit the earth at some point in the next ten thousand years, causing devastation. and it's statistically more or less a given. doesn't mean that it's good journalism.

i hope he's ok. it's the fanbois that get apple a bad name - steve is a visionary.

even though it was the enquirer, i reckon that story did serious damage to apple's stock. any time there's a 'jobs is dying' rumour doing the rounds it does.

geh, if you mean in terms of marketing.

They weren't innovative in any one specific function, it was how the product was packaged and marketed to people, and the economics behind the apps and pushing developers to create apps for it.

indeed. whilst you might not agree with the pseudo-walled-garden approach apple takes, particularly with app stores on ipad etc (and the rest of the apple infrastructure is moving towards it too), if you are ok with going along with it, it works. it's interesting because it's adopted from the ubuntu repository model (which is in itself a derivative of the redhat .RPM model). it's good, but it's not what people who like to tinker and fuck about with and hack like me prefer. i can definitely see why it's popular though.

as far as im concerned if all the phone companies are following apple, then they are the innovators here. they got laughed at when thy wanted to get in the phone market and now thre are dozens of imitators. how many tablet commercials did you see before the ipad? now there are countless. just because they aren't inventing the technology at a rapid clip they are making it simple to use and beautiful to feel and a huuuuge reason for that is steve jobs.

yes, i am talking us market. of course there were smart phones before but apple revolutionized them for sure.

the tablet thing was going to happen anyway so apple didnt really push that? someone would have figured out quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity anyway too so i guess einstein was pretty much a zip.

Android runs a Linux based kernel, so nope.

Mac OS X is a Mach based Kernel

yea I don't know much about that stuff but I do know android would not look like it does or behave like it does without ios coming first.
