AJW
Autechre was one of the 'big sounds' to hit me. One of those rare and beautiful sounds experiences that only seeem to come along so often. A few years after perusing and loving Autechre (which I still do), I came across Nurse With Wound. The sounds here are mostly acoustic, often droning and echoing around the place. Veering from insanely comical to meditative to frigthening then back to silly again. It's wonderful stuff. Brimming with creativity and delightfull weirdness. There's a huge back catalogue spanning back to around 1982 to sift through. I've only dabbled in it up until now, but it keeps getting more and more interesting. I'm sure it would be good as a creative booster for anyone in the processes of creating any kind of art. While it sometimes seems to veer off and make funny faces at you from realms of occult/satanism, it's creepy/hilarious balance never ceases to surprise and subsequently delight. There is definetely traces of Autechre sensibilities here, albeit played with acoustics and sampled, tin cans, voices etc. It sometimes even sounds like some of Tom Waits' trippier stuff.
