Its basically a space shooter where your enemy consists of a series of bosses that become progressively more challanging based on your own tactics, so it'll keep evolving to contest your attack method.

That doesn't look like Rez at all. Just because it's a shooter on rails doesn't mean it is "the equivalent of Rez". Then every RPG in the world is just "the equivalent of Dragon Quest" or every fps is "the equivalent of Medal of Honor"

Viewpoint is one of the hardest goddam shooters i've ever played. Fantastic music and graphics though, still to this day one of the best looking put together prerendered games.

did anyone mention Radiant Silvergun yet? the game kickstarted the hyper bullet filled screen shooter games. There are in 2010 at least 30 knockoffs of it
