I'm very surprised Tom Dissevelt and Kid Baltan have not been mentioned.

Weeeell I would have done, but I assumed this thread was focusing on music made with a 'synthesizer', in the modern sense of the word (ie, something commercially available, post-Bob Moog 1964). If we're including oscillators and tape manipulations and such then I would have posted lots of this stuff by now.

various rare classics you might have bought or missed on lp

Tod Dockstader is one of my favourite artists of that era. After taking a break from his 'organized sound' style in the 60s, he released a couple of library LPs of synthesizer music for Boosey & Hawkes in 1979/81, respectively. Creel Pone has reissued them on CD, and they are pretty damn good. Unfortunately, no youtube, the best I can do is the clips found here

His recent output is fantastic too, but not relevant to this thread as it's all post 1983. But check out the Aerial CDs.

Also, I don't think anyone's mentioned Fabio Frizzi yet, who is a favourite of mine.

the subject of the thread says 'electronic' as well as synthesizer, it was meant to be open ended :emotawesomepm9:

Xenakis, Mycenae Alpha, UPIC, 1978

that was effing amazing. Xenakis was easily 30 years ahead of his time. Anymore later period Xenakis stuff? i'm mostly familiar with his stuff before 1975

Him and David Tudor are hard to pin down exactly how many different performed/recorded/published works of theirs are available. about 50% of their CD/vinyl discography have repeated/reissued content

edit: what i mean by that is a place like Discogs is not very helpful to navigate through all of it, and the wikipedia page is usually the opposite problem where they only list either the discography or every written work. What i'm looking for kind of a 'listening guide' to either artist by someone who is a big fan.

it was a very good contribution, and now that Awepittance has pointed out my inability to read thread titles correctly, here's some Jean-Claude Eloy to make up for it (droney musique concrete from '79):

I'd also strongly recommend Slava Ranko's 1981 LP 'Arctic Hysteria' (samples here)

yep yep yep, nother wicked mix awepittance, great thread, loved all the contributions, LEARNT ALOT GUYS.

Just discovered this 1979 track by Vangelis, very reminiscent of some of Blade Runner OST but more smoked out.

One of the most enjoyable ways to spend 12 minutes I can think of.

I haven't stopped listening to that mix for a couple of days now. Synergy and V.D.B. Joel are a discovery and a half for me. Thanks!
