ok here we go....

first idm stands for intelligent dance music, why it was called that by who etc, isn't important cause the name sucks and it doesn't truly capture the music that falls under its category. this in itself has created the attitude and culture of idm. what we have here is a group of musicians that use electronics to create what you could call "experimental" music. Whether that term is a good one or not is also up in the air... I don't like it either... so basically as I said the music of idm is like not easily described... that is what makes idm music so appealing is because you as a listener are able to expand your own ideas and thoughts through the abstractness of the music. this is a beautiful thing, but it makes for expanding your appreciation to others quite difficult and emotionally painful. so that drives the mysterious nature of an idm artist, because association with it , in a kind of definitive way goes against the quality and goal of the music.

plaid is very idm, why? well I can't say why exactly... but they are and you shouldnt ask such silly questions

i also now realize that you were joking now and that I was being hypocritical by attacking you cause you attacked the name, but that was my mistake in thinking you were attacking idm, not the name idm

I realize now that most people on this forum (or the internet in general) just can't help but argue and flame each other.
