Acid house on American radio

It's going to happen in a matter of time. I've been unsure about other things as well, but we now have Aphex Twin in Kanye West n shit like that. I've had this delayed expectation for 303 minimalism in modern hip-hop, but i'm pretty convinced that it's possible and probable

Dude piano loops have been in hip hop FOREVER.

It has nothing to do with idm or acid or any kind of shit like that.

But our own Acidphakist has in fact collaborated with a rapper & I'll allow him to plug that cuz I'm not sure where its located.

303esque (yeah, i know that resonant saw leads have been prominent in hip hop as well, but not used often like this)

Also, repeating bassline with altering parameters over a minimal 4/4 beat

don't mean to ruin the awe and wonder but the reason we're hearing "acid" in pop lately is a result of the profuse effects that sylenth1 presets have had in pop production ever since lennardigital put it out. i'm not kidding. it's the reason you hear hoovers in lady gaga, and so much other oldschool rave sounds in modern stuff. that synth is fucking awesome, don't get me wrong, and i find it very amusing how it penetrated the american pop studio repertoire. knowing it so well, i hear its presets all the time, and it's always funny.

as for a genuine "303 in pop! gasp!" moment, i think there's no contender for:

still not a 303 though, probably an "aceeed" or "phuture" preset on a Triton.

I'm shocked no one has posted this, it was up there with the Miami Bass hits in the mid-90s. It's a bit forgotten but I used to hear it on urban and r&b stations every once in awhile.

voodoo ray by guy called gerald, pacific state by 808 state, the sun rising by the beloved etc etc - all these are acid house and were in the charts in the late eighties...

Yes...in the UK, not in America

seriously? you must have had something....S-Express? that's got a bit of acid in it. Yazz?

Sorry, I didn't mean in general, just those tracks. There were acid-tinged dance hits that hit the US charts, especially in the 90s, but I think it's safe to say "true" electronic classics stayed in the clubs. The UK has always seemed a lot more varied in the charts IMO
