This is really good, never heard anything from this guy before. Juke that you can actually listen to, who'd of thunk it!

Really? He's been around for ages. His old stuff is very different but there's some excellent albums scattered throughout, my favorite being his 2001 debut Now You Know.

WATMM in digging juke shocker!

Seriously though, I really like this too. It's not really juke though, but the influence is there. Juke with more melodies. Julodies if you will

"future juke" says NME/pitchfork/tumblr :whistling:

Might have to give this a listen if some of you guys are liking it, I dismissed it as something new on planet mu I probably wouldnt like.

The Chrissy Murderbot LP also on Mu is good and takes juke and twists it about a bit in a more straight up party way

Thanks chuvak I'm checking the samples on the Planet Mu site and it's pretty cool basement jaxx for 2011 type stuff, my friends are going to love this.

Last year I really disliked both DJ Nate and the Shangaan Electro disc on Honest Jons but now that this Machinedrum guy does the same thing in a more European sans black culture fashion I suddenly like it, is this racist?

Great Album, this and Battle's Gloss drop are the best I have listened this year.

Sounds like Burial meets Hudson Mohawke thought, in a good way.

this is pretty easily AOTY for me at this point. well, not THAT easily, but it's really close with a few others. This just really hits high places. I must say I'm surprised as I didn't know how good a producer Machinedrum was. Now I know the deal, and I'll have to check out his past few albums as well as perhaps the early Autechre/Prefuse style shit. I was really skeptical of his shift from experimental to what might be viewed as 'pop,' but it works. And it actually works on what might be said to be 'NEXT LEVEL SHIT' levels.

While I don't listen to Machine Drum or any of his other aliases these days, I'm taking a nice trip down memory lane via a mix my professor from Uni did! I introduced her to Machine Drum, like, four or five years ago, and to celebrate the release of his new album she did this mix http://samurai.fm/polishedsolid/i-machinedrum-mix-no-turn-unstoned-159

She was my professor for a lot of courses while I went to school at UArts in Philly, and she's now the interim director of the multimedia department there. whoa

Seriously, small world, we both post mixes on Percussion Lab and noticed we listened to a lot of the same stuff. Cool that she was your teacher!

I see you're in Bed Stuy, I'm in south Williamsburg, only a couple subway stops away I'm sure!

This album is really good. One of my favorite realeases in 2011 so far. Some tracks seems to be straight up of Burial rip-offs. But who gives a fuck. As long as it sounds good. I'm addicted to 'She Died There' at the moment.

You guys were right. This is a great album! I've never really rated Machinedrum before, but this has got that neat energy. You can definitely feel how it was built quickly and somewhat spontaneously. It's got the "fun" X-factor to it. Also, cool artwork.

Well done WATMM
