I respect your opinion and politely disagree very strongly.

edit: also, shit guys, stop posting good vgm music. you're ruining the novelty of my forthcoming video game music dj mix, since I have like 4 of the songs in this thread in it.

I'm just going to stick with the really old school shit. There are far too many choices for SNES and beyond.

Zelda I think may be my #1 for original NES, surprised it hasn't already been posted. Maybe too obvious?

Final Fantasy games always have great soundtracks.

TMNT2 music was always good for getting the ol' adrenaline pumping.

As was the music from Batman.

And of course it goes without saying that all the NES Mario Bros music was gold.

Those Kirby 3 songs ganus posted are outstanding. Never played that game, but now I want to.

Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles

Parodius (Most of the music in this game is taken from other sources)

Rayman 1

Bolded because the music in this game is CD quality, made from real-life high quality instruments and composed by musical masterminds.

And also don't forget the Mortal Kombat opening themes...

The Genesis really made my childhood. I still love it.

Awepittance, I totally agree about Super Castlevania IV -- I had never played it (!) but Alcofribas turned me on (and turned me onto) the ost, which is superb.

Edit: Plus any VGM by David Wise, especially the Wizards & Warriors tracks, all three games.
