Homogenic Vespertine is too good. I don't think there's any way she'll ever top that, but this does sound promising.

No!

Vespertine is my second favorite Bjork album, possibly my favorite when everything is covered in snow (which is barely ever where I live). If I lived somewhere where it snowed constantly, Vespertine would be my favorite Bjork album.

Vespertine's an icy album for sure. Homogenic is the only Bjork I haven't heard yet, though I do have some singles from it lying around. It's silly that I haven't given it a listen since it's probably the one I'd be most into judging from the singles...

!!!!!!!

I will lend Homogenic to you ASAP, because that's a landmark album for sure. It's as good as anything ever gets to my ears.

hi it's björk here

maybe you heard already but i have a new project coming soon called biophilia

it is an album, an app album, a live show and a new website

to make this project i met some amazing explorers, inventors, scientists and programmers. i thought i'd tell you a bit about the project.

the first single and app is called crystalline. it explores crystal and musical structure, and also features a computer-controlled celeste i had remade with bronze bars. i did a video with michel gondry and there will be remixes coming soon too

the live show starts at manchester international festival for 3 weeks at the end of june and will tour the world for the next 2 years! i will be joined by an icelandic girl choir, a computer-controlled gamelan / celeste and pipe organ, a pendulum harp, a singing tesla coil, a hang player called manu and a pin barrel harp!

i will try to communicate more on the website as things happen. at the moment it is still a holding page but soon the universe will grow with stuff from my old website and new content too. you can explore by clicking and dragging and using the keyboard arrow keys

i'm really excited to show you the project soon!

warmth, björk

Well that's fucking IDM.

Thanks to those debating a page back about Vespertine and Homogenic: I went back and listened to them both first the first time in ages.

My own vote goes to Vespertine, an absolutely sublime album. I rediscovered the remarkable Undo which when it reaches 2:20, sits amongst the best music ever made.

Vespertine is my favourite too. Was immensely pleased to get Undo at the Osaka show I saw in 2008

I shake my fist at thee!

I imagine that was quite something to see live. Did you get to hear Unravel from Homogenic at all?

I'm on the mailing list for the hang player called Manu Delago, all he said was that he's playing various instruments including the hang. He's a most spectacular drummer too and I think he played most every instrument when I saw him. Basically he's amazing and worth checking out. He's made a song out of himself brushing his teeth and I think he played Crazy In Love on a slide whistle while playing drums with the other hand, or something similarly amazing.

Yes, Unravel was DEVASTATING. Really took me by surprise. I had no idea how intense that one would be live.

I was very lucky because I saw her at Big Day Out @ Gold Coast, and she did a right festival set full of chargin shit, including all but one track from Homogenic. Then two months later I was in Japan, saw her at Osaka Jo and it was the exact oppostive; a really mellow, gentle set with all the stuff that I adore (Undo, Desired Constellation, Hidden Place, etc)
