Just forwarded this to a few cipher/cryptology experts/hobbyists as well as a GIS (global information systems) specialist for the US fed gov. Will pop back in here once I get some responses.

My initial feeling is that it requires a decryption key given to specific trusted individuals. But then, why post it online rather than send out private invitations...

And if they're expecting someone to crack it, how can they be sure that that individual won't let the secret out.

Heh, maybe it's not even a secret at all, and I'm missing something.

Thoughts:

It could be something you can only decrypt once you have the record which is out the week before - DES encrypted.

How was the link discovered. I mean, I couldn't see a link to it on the main page.

I can't decide if they really want poeple to come to this thing or not. I suppose they must if it's on the site but things could get out of hand.

It could reslove into a weblink or e-mail address...
