PWSteal.Ldpinch.D vs It Doesn't Matter

Recommended Posts

I dont think that computer and samplers where not involved in analord tracks. I don't say everyone of them, but I bet that chosen lords where surely edited in a DAW.

On the track in debate, PWSteal.Ldpinch.D, you can distinctively hear a clip sound at 2:13, when the part is doubled. You can also see it in a DAW, seems like a badly done cut :D.

So it may be a sample at the beginning, the two sounds pretty much alike. I suspect a joke on the RDJ side, i.e. it was done on purpouse.

Obviously, I love the track, it's my favourite RDJ's track, second only to Xtal.

good ear. i think the a lot of analord was a pro tools thing. how can you bring in all these analog sequences and have them work perfectly with the track?

I disagree. A lot of the Analord tracks sound like live takes with synced gear - the fade ins on some songs, the sync going off in 'pitcard' 1.38 in and having to start/stop a few times, and almost every song sounds like he's pushing and pulling faders on individual instruments. A lot of it sounds like noodling with programmed patterns, effects and a mixer. I like most of the tracks, but some tracks sound aimless at times.

For 'Pwsteal.Ldpinch.D.', I suspect he just took break from somewhere not thinking of the Chem. Bros. You can download the break in this sample pack on http://www.breakbeat-paradise.com/samplesite/bb_breakbeat.php in 'old skool breaks'.

I think they probably both sampled it from the same place. Don't think AFX would sample the chems.

the sounds are different, the beat pattern is the same, but it's a simple pattern.

pwsteal.ldpinch.d is my favorite afx tune atm, and it's not bad at 79.37% speed (slowed 4 tones).

He blatantly sampled the chem brothers.. If anyone can proof me wrong on that, please provide evidence, thank you :)

This was already posted in the Parallels thread in the Autechre subforum. Either way, the open hihat sample in It Doesn't Matter is a different sample entirely. It's longer and more harsh. They very well may have taken the drum track, but it doesn't change the fact that Ldpinch.D is so MUCH BETTER of a track.

the B-side to I'm Self Employed

Isn't that the B-Side?

nvm, found it...

Bodmin? I'm pissed off up in SE1 that I didn't know about this until now, but, then again, I can hear some new AFX tracks.

Yeah, you're right, I think I meant to say "the B-side I'm Self Employed". I'm not sure exactly what I was thinking, as that was two years ago now... The Bodmins are quite nice and stick in my head an awful lot, but I was definitely of the opinion (and still am) that PWSteal and Self Employed are amongst the better, catchier, more hummable tracks in the Analord series.

are we listening to the same tracks?

you can tell when it's slowed down. i slowed down both tracks to the same speed (79.37%, slowed 4 tones), and you can hear clearly that not only is the eqing different, but the decay of the bass drum is longer for the CB one, the hi-hat quickly following the snare sounds cleaner for the AFX one, and the open hi-hats and snares dont sound the same. i made a comparison track of the slowed versions:

and for anyone interested in the slowed pwsteal:
