liking autechre for the "wrong" reason? what do you mean? sounds rather elitist. all i was suggesting, in joking that this thread is six years old, is that autechre is quite outdated at this point—i was surprised people still have an issue with playing autechre in the workplace because i didn't know people still play autechre in the workplace.

in conclusion, just listen to non-electronic music. whoever suggested jazz knows how to think outside the dusty old box.

i was suggesting that a thread like this might as well have popped up in 2005, and that discussion would have resolved with an acknowledgment of IDM's obvious lack of popularity to most listeners, as well as watmmers' responsibility to expand their listening behaviors outside that genre. common knowledge, no?

and yet five years later, this discussion still exists, which makes me think people really haven't changed or expanded their listening behaviors...at all.

keep in mind, listen to whatever you want, i don't give a fuck. my point is that you guys have been listening to autechre for years—but it's just now that some watmmers realize people generally don't like them?

i'm not necessarily looking for something that isn't idm, but it's certainly not limited to only idm shit. i don't care if the "genre is dead" because that's just a stupid thing to assert seriously.
